Sugar Creek Candles Company: Monkey Nuts Natural Soy Wax Candle #SoyCandles

DSC_1293

I have been a fan of soy based candles because they tend to burn cleaner and the amount of scent or how strong they are, is not affected by the soy base. Lately, I have been using a warmer and another one with a fan feature. We burn candles or melt wax on a daily basis. It keeps the house that cooks and bakes on a daily basis from smelling like food. Foods smells are great when they come from a baked treat like a cake, but a lobster tail that was grilled and then finished in the oven……well, not so great the next morning!

In comes Sugar Creek Candles with a decent array of scents to satisfy every taste out there. I opted for the Monkey Nuts variety, which has a tropical scent that is more like a coconut and pineapple blend, versus banana like the name may suggest.  I pretty much enjoy every scent out there from Clean Linens to the Spring floral blends because change is welcoming when you burn candles like we do.

Verdict:
I receive the glass jar, which also has a glass lid for when not in use. The candle is white in color and the scent was faint when I opened the jar to get an idea how it smelled. I figured some candles are soft when it comes to the fragrance notes they release and especially lighter scents, but they can still do their job of covering odors or just adding a nice smell to the air. This was not the case for Sugar Creek Candles. I burned the candle after dinner and I made Asian that evening. The candle burned for 4 hours straight and you could only smell it a few feet away. We have a high cathedral style ceiling in the family room, so I just moved it to the kitchen itself, which has a shorter ceiling. No difference and this was one weak candle. I blamed the food I made. Maybe the oils, chilies and everything combined was too big of a job for a jarred candle. The next day there was no residue left of the scent, so I again burn the candle for 2 hours. I stopped when I realized that as long as you are over the candle, you could smell it. Like so on top that you better not burn your nose (kind of close). I go outside to make sure I have not acclimated to the aroma and when I return inside, I realize this candle is just sadly a fail for size and price. It’s weak…..way too weak in scent and unless you want to burn a candle for ambient light, that is the only positive I could find. The jar is nothing special and the wax is white in color, so it’s not even a beautiful hue to look at but if it smelled like it should, I would have enjoyed and especially with the days warming up and now that we are in May, the tropical fragrance would have been perfect.

Blissful Lotus: Lotus Flower Incense Burner and Votive Tea Light Candle Holder #Review #LotusIncenseBurner

DSC_1205

When it comes to candles and decor, I am always seeking something unique that adds both beauty but usefulness too. A double-duty item!

DSC_1206 DSC_1208

Blissful Lotus offers a lotus flower shaped incense burner, which is cast from plastic (poly-resin) and hand painted. The lotus center has holes, which would hold the incense sticks. You can also use the holder as a tea candle/votive holder, so it has several different uses.

DSC_1207

Verdict:
The item came nicely wrapped and in a white colored box. Upon opening the box, the first detail I noticed, was that the bottom of the lotus has a painted flower too (almost like a brand emblem) however the glaze/coating used to protect the paint, was only applied about 3/4 of the way. You can actually notice the brush stroke and color change, since a clear coating tends to give that “wet look” when the sealant is applied. Yes, it’s the bottom of the holder, however this also means as you move it, use it and/or place it in different rooms, the paint will begin to flake off the plastic and leaving black colored flakes behind. It’s the small details that only took one more second when the sealant was applied. Next, comes the holes, which represent the center of the lotus flower. Some are bigger in circumference and depth. This means my incense sticks do not rest properly in some and only at a slant in others, while some holes are just too small. This limits how many holes I can use because of how the uniform shaped incense sticks rest in the uniformed holes! Some of the holes look like the form used when the plastic was injected, had debris and you get that look of clumping when casting (old material mixed with the new injected one). Yes, the item is plastic and a small drop will not break it, however I don’t plan to be careless and especially with an item that most times will have a slow burning incense stick or candle going. Last but not the least, the paint job. When the original image does not represent the care the final piece was made with. Okay, if the product retailed for $4.99 or something, not okay when it retails for $13.99! Yes, a plastic flower that really the only thing it has going for it is weight, meaning no worry of tipping if you are even are able to use 1/2 the holes with incense sticks that are a little fatter than usual but that is about it. Real wood or glass items cost less and some of the wood ones even come with brass metal details…….it’s hard for me to just tell you buy it, it’s cute. I will be drilling the holes to at least have a matching size so my sticks rest evenly too, and then painting it. Again, a craft project where the items costs almost $14 is not something I can push even with the positive spin I am sharing here because I dislike just throwing something away if I can save it.

Kohree Real Wax Flameless LED Candles with Full Function Remote Control

I have reviewed a number of flameless candles recently, some that I loved, some I wanted to, and some that fell just short. The Last pillar candles I reviewed from Ohuhu fell just short, but based on my experience with Kohree products, I had much higher hopes. And for the most part, these Kohree Reaal Wax Flameless Pillar Candles with Remote Control are my new favorite flameless pillar candles ever.

DSC_0654

To start, they are covered in real wax, so you should probably not put them on a hot surface or in bright sunlight for extended periods of time. You have a choice between a “constant on” feature, and a slow “flicker” effect from all three. You can even control the bightness! Low for a more relaxed setting and high to really brighten up a corner or accent table. Powered by 3 AAA batteries (sadly, not included. Insert sad face here!) each, they will run for quite some time before needing to be replaced (or, if your clever, recharged!). And because it’s a flameless candle, there’s no mess, no smoke, no hot melted wax to be worried about. And it’s always the perfect height and size, it’ll never melt smaller or irregular. The included remote is full-function, so you can adjust the brightness, the setting, and even the pre-designated timers of 4 and 8 hours! And the best part about them is they look just like the real deal. The last pillar candles I tried from Ohuhu would change colors, but the one color lacking was a true, actual “flame” color! So you immediately knew there was something off. With these Kohree Flameless Wax Candles, they 100% look and act like the real deal! They make for a great centerpiece to your holiday table, to any possible holiday decorating you could have in mind! And because they’re LED lights, they’ll last for years and years, and never need more than fresh batteries and quick wipe and they’re ready for the next season!

DSC_0657

I really liked these Kohree Flameless Wax candles, and at just $16.99 for the set of 3, you could spend a lot more and get a lot less! The look and feel of a real candle, the convenience of a full function remote, and the low price, you can’t go wrong with these Real Wax Flameless Candles from Kohree!

Celebright: Premium Flameless LED lighted tea Candles #Review #FlamelessCandles

IMAG2627 I usually purchased my tealight candles in bulk and a box or several bags lasted me for years. Five years passed and I took for granted always having that surplus of candles and then came having to shop for them. I never thought I would be shorted on candle wax! My older tealights are literally half thicker and last three times as long than the wafer thin candles I found today. I started pricing and noticed that most places charged premium prices for anything close to what I had, so I started thinking about use and placement. IMAG2625 Candles have never been a danger in my home and I am thankful that I remember to blow them out, never leave a room with a candle lit and make sure to never place a candle holder under a vent that if the candle were to be lit and the central air kicks in, it could cause a flame to blow more towards one side and ruin the holder itself or worse. This means I’m limited. Yes, I love scents but I have candle holders that are just too pretty to burn a candle in them. I don’t want black marks over time to build and ruin the glazes/finishes, so I started looked for options. IMAG2628 In my hunt, I reached out to Celebright and they were kind enough to send me a box of 24 LED lit and candles. Talk about having enough candles to light up any room for any occasion or just because. The candles come with batteries and these are not one-time use either, you can simply change the batteries (type CR2032) and continue to enjoy the tealights. No heat, no limitations, no worrying about leaving and did I blow that candle out and it you have children or pets, no worries if they come too close for comfort. I sort of like this worry-free living! Everything is great but looks also matter and these mimic a flame with a nice small flickering. They all flicker differently so you don’t have a sequence doing the same flame moment at the same time, just a nice mellow light that is somewhat relaxing. When you are done, you simple flip them over and they even have a switch to control them on or off, so no need to mess with screws or hard tops to pop off. IMAG2626 Retail Price Point: $19.95 for a set of 24 tealights with batteries included and already installed. That is less than a $1 a piece!  Candles also come with a Lifetime Guarantee.

Red Brick Candle: Luxury Scented Candle Loft Collection No. 1 #RedBrickCandle

IMAG1993

Everyone loves this time of the year. The sights, the sounds, the tastes and the smells. Oh, the smells. Rich, buttery, spicy. Sometimes the smells alone put 2lbs on you. But then, as with all good things, the holidays come to a close and sometimes, the smells remain. Not scents, mind you…smells.

Enter the good folks at Red Brick Candle and their line of ultra-premium products. The were kind enough to send me a sample to try, and in my house, we put the spurs to it, because we cook. Every day. From scratch, mostly. Which means we get all the smells, good and bad, that go with that and it takes a powerful candle to foot the bill.

This candle took everything we had to throw at it, laughed, and said “Thank you, ma’am, may I have another!”. We got to try their No. 1, with deep, rich, inviting blend of maple and vanilla. Once you get over the absolutely darling packaging, you’re suddenly overtaken by the luxurious scent packed into every molecule of this candle. You almost feel bad about slicing the red labels to open it. Almost.

IMAG1995

Once inside you get a “Thank you” dust cover with a 15% off offer, and an adorable box of matches. All this and we STILL have to get to this wonderful candle! And then you see it. It comes in a heavy-duty glass cup that you have ~0~ fear will crack with heat. Labeled “Loft No. 1”, you start to fall in love and just about feel bad setting it aflame. Until you do. In 10 minutes my home was drenched in vanilla & maple, every room, every hall, every nook, every cranny. So this is how the other half lives, huh? I’m liking… No, I’m loving this. While at 10.9 oz. (309 g) of premium grade soy based wax (which provides 75-80 hours of clean, even burn time, btw), this guy is no heavyweight, he’s hitting far above his weight class and I’ll put this little one against your big ‘ole 3-wick jobbie any day.

Retail Price Point: 32.00 for a 10.9 ounce candle and all products come with a Satisfaction Guarantee

IMAG1996

My gripes with candles have always been that so many are all sizzle, no steak. Fancy packaging, exotic names, drop dead scents that don’t spread further than a foot away once lit. This one? Every other candle company should hang their heads in shame. Not only does it look like a million bucks, it smells like it too. But, if I had one reservation going in, it’s the cost. $32 is no small amount for one candle, but if I hadn’t tried it, I’m not sure I’d believe it was worth it. But I did, and I do. And I’m thankful for the opportunity. Now almost 1 month in and I still have almost half the candle with near daily use. Even burning with no tunneling, so you don’t feel like it’s not being used completely, no crackle from the all natural, lead-free wick, quick lighting and a with soft, calming glow. With 2 other Loft scents available (spicy cinnamon with orange, nutmeg & clove notes, as well as lilac with sweet vanilla & jasmine notes), and more collections on the way, there is definitely one for you!

Red Brick Candle also donates a portion of each sale back into the community to help benefit urban revitalization and community development initiatives. A small business with big goals and a dynamite product to boot. I wholeheartedly recommend this product, and I’m ever so thankful for the opportunity to shine a light on them. Now, the only question is, which one to try next? 😉
