But it’s also gentle enough for a clear coat quick polish as well, with a setting as low as 600 rpm, or as high as 3000 rpm for a liquid-like shine. The seven inch polishing pad covers enough real estate to make even waxing our big honking 4Runner a quick 45-minute task instead of an “all afternoon” task. You can even vary the grips as needed, with a simple side handle (similar to an angle grinder) for vertical applications, and a removable top mounted handle for trunks, hoods and tops that are horizontal. Federico’s Car Care Microfiber Wash Mitt (2-Pack)

In California, we don’t get to wash our cars much anymore. Regardless of your opinions about the drought and it’s causes, severity, or tenure…that ship sailed and we’re here, in a drought. You might imagine the bittersweet surprise when Federico’s Car Care sent me a pair of chenille microfiber wash mitts to compliment the microfiber polish cloths 5 pack I reviewed right here not too long ago. So let’s fill a bucket of soapy water and get right too it, shall we?

On a hot but not too sunny day in SoCal I filled a bucket with soapy water and set to work. It grabbed and held the sudsy water and cleaned the old truck like a dream! When I was done I washed and rinsed it and set it out to dry in the sun, and when it dried gave it a shake to find the nap of the chenille was just as fluffy and plush as when it was new! Nice! It’s also 100% machine washable, too.

Microfiber is a natural fit for a car wash mitt, with it being extra absorbent and it’s tendency to wick up dirt and grime and keep it away from your paint. It purports to be soft and lint free, and at first, it very much was. By then end of our truck wash, little bitty orange fibers were clearly visible on the silver-grey paint. Truthfully, almost any cloth will leave some small bit of lint, but the bright orange color is going to make even the smallest fibers stand out. A minor knock on and otherwise great product!

What I liked was it was plush and well made enough that it seems it could be used for quite a while before needing replacement. But, instead of hanging on to one (Remember, you get 2 to a box!) the other could easily be used to buff off wax or polish, or even for quick detailing sprays and kept in a trunk, console or glove box! Because it covers the entire hand, front and back, there’s no worries about jewelry or nails scratching that oh-so-important clear coat, either! Want to use it dry as a duster inside the car? The fine nap of the fabric will grab and hold dust too! Leather Nova Cleaners and Conditioners Review

 

I have quite a few leather goods in my home. From furniture, to purses and wallets, jackets and shoes, to even nick-nacks. Caring for leather goods properly isn’t always easy. Every knows someone, or has experienced it themselves…the sticky leather. The greasy leather, the cracked, stiff, dried leather. It can be heart-breaking. Next up is Leather Nova’s Ultimate Leather Protector Conditioner. Also made in the USA for non-toxic, high grade polymers, and like the cleaner, free from harsh detergents and chemicals. It goes on thick (using the included microfiber applicator and, again, my hand) but spreads easily. It was very shiny and had me quite worried, but a careful reading of the directions says to leave it on for an hour and then buff the excess away. After a hour I buff with a soft cloth. Hubby’s chair didn’t look this snazzy when we brought it home from Krause’s! And the smell is almost showroom new. No little cloth fibers left behind from buffing, just a soft, smooth, supple leather chair that even I can now enjoy sitting in. It even lessened the appearance for the two surface scratches in the seat cushion. Two for two!

Last up is the Leather Nova Cleaner & Conditioner. Made to the same standards of the stand alone cleaner and conditioner product, it was, sadly, my least favorite of the the three. I followed the directions to a tee, but felt that the two separate products did a far superior job of both cleaning and conditioning the leather. I could see this being used as a “touch up” or follow-up treatment after using the other two products first to deep clean and condition, but as a stand alone product it felt lacking. It worked well on Hubby’s wallet, and an old purse of mine that had seen better days (it may even work it’s way back into the rotation again!). But where it really shined was an old leather jacket I’d given hubby back when we were dating. He’s used and abused it, even one year where it was used to take our little dog out to do her business. In the rain. And then left in the garage to dry. After an all-over treatment from Leather Nova’s Cleaner & Conditioner, it felt better than the day I gave it to him. Many, many, many (like, a lot of) years ago. And now with many more years to come. So while it wasn’t my favorite of the three, it still did an outstanding job on it’s own.
