We’re no stranger to Burei watches in this house, and this one here is another winner, but more sleek and uncomplicated than the watches Hubby is used to. Suitable for dressing up or down, I think this Burei watch is fantastic.

Made from 316L stainless steel and sporting a brushed black electroplate, this almost 43mm watch also has a scratch-resistant mineral crystal and a genuine calfskin 18mm band. The leather is soft and pliable and made from a single piece of leather. The push in knurled crown allows you to easily adjust the time and date, and the indices are coated with a bright, powerful lume, with traditional hourmarkers as well as minute markers and a ticking second hand. There’s a bright copper threading on the band that is much more copper-colored than the image on Amazon would lead you to believe. And while the watch is water resistant to 50 meters, the calfskin band won’t fare too well being submerged, but the occasional splash is just fine. The precision Japanese quartz keeps excellent time with no noticeable loss after a couple of weeks of regular wear.
The quality you get from Burei is second to none for the price, and is backed bu Burei’s stellar warranty of 30 days money back guarantee for any reason, 12 months replacement or full refund for quality issues and 24 months maintenance for any quality issues. I don’t know of a single watchmaker in this price range that even comes close to a warranty like this. Burei even includes a ready-made gift package with bag, box, and pillow presentation with warranty card.

There are many choices out there for value-priced watches, but none that, for my money, match the quality of Burei.

When I got the last ring I reviewed here for hubby, I was pretty happy to report on the quality of Glytterati’s products and hubby liked the ring very much. So I tickled pink to report that their next offering, the Titanium 8mm with Black Ion plating ring, is also the goods.

Once you get past what seems to be the industry standard for titanium and tungsten of whole sizes only, you’re left with a product that fit’s mostly okay but looks like a million bucks. It’s highly polished, incredibly lightweight, and at 8mm should stand out from the crowd. Hubby usually wears a 9mm band on his big ‘ol sausage fingers, but the 8mm doesn’t get lost on him. In fact, the contrast of the high-polished bright titanium and the shiny black ion plating is incredibly striking and I caught more than one person trying to get a better look at Hubby’s new “bling”. Lest we forget this is Hubby we’re talking about, the black ion plating stood up to his, shall we call it “lack of delicate handling” with aplomb and didn’t scratch off like a lesser “painted” finish would. In fact, the titanium was pretty durable and stood up to all manner of abuse before showing any real signs of wear. But it still shines and looks classy, so this one is most definitely a keeper.

The ring is comfort fit, wears well, with no rough edges and being as it’s light, you almost forget that you’re wearing it. Add to that Glytterati’s 100% lifetime satisfaction guarantee as well as their scratch-proof guarantee, and the promise of a 12 hour response time, and you have every reason to get this ring right now. There might be a glut of cheap titanium bands out there, but very few will match the quality and service commitment of Glytterati. You just can’t go wrong.

There are a few things that I’ve come to expect from budget watch brands. Hollow steel links in the bands. Cheap glass for the crystal. Flimsy hardware. Poor construction and function. But when a watch comes into my home with a high-polished solid stainless steel with a push-button hidden deployant clasp, precision Japanese quartz movement, full functioning chronograph, full water resistance and a sapphire crystal for $68.99?!? Are you kidding me? Burei has got to be insane to be selling that much for that little!

Any yet, they are indeed offering their quality watches at that price, and after speaking to them a few times I’m reasonably certain they’re not nuts, but just nuts for quality and value. I thought the Burei BM-7006-51E Chronograph looked nice on the page when I ordered, but I wasn’t prepared for how amazing it looked and fit in person. It’s a little bit dressy, and also a little bit sporty, so it can fit almost any occasion and style. And while the bracelet is sold 316L stainless steel polished to a flawless mirror finish, it’s not heavy or bulky, but instead sleek and understated, but also refined at the same time. The pushers for the chronograph function are smooth and actuate easily, the interior of the bezel has indices for precise countdowns, the face is an easy to read joy with minute markers and standard numeric markers at the hours, with a small date window between 4 and 5 o’clock. The case is 42mm, which is in the butter zone for Hubby (42-44mm) for size, and the 20mm band looks perfect on the wrist, not too skinny but not so large as to be obnoxious. The push-in crown is simple to use, and the scratch resistant sapphire crystal is such a nice touch and usually reserved for much more expensive timepieces, and rarely used on anything under $100. It’s water resistant to 30M as well, with a screw-down case back that makes replacing the battery a breeze. There’s the usual Burei attention to detail with the swirls on the clasp, the knurling on the crown, and sizing arrows on the inside of the band. There’s also the usual Burei bells and whistles, with the gift box and bag, the warranty card outlining the stellar Burei 30-day, 1-Year and 2-Year warranty times, as well as a easy to read instruction manual should you have any issues. And as if there wasn’t enough value added here, Burei gives you a watch sizing tool to make customizing your Burei watch a breeze, at no additional cost. The customer service is quick to respond to any and all issues (usually a 24 hour turnaround time), and they ship free next or same day with Amazon prime.
There’s a lot of cheap, poorly made watches out there, and if you’re like Hubby and I, we tended to sort on price and say that anything under “X” amount is not going to be made well or made to last. And Burei went and turned our world on it’s head by stuffing so much quality into so sharp a package and all the while charging a pittance. At this price these quality timepieces are suitable for holiday gifts, birthday gifts, graduation gifts, or “Just Because” gifts, and they’ll think you spent hundreds of dollars. I’m so thankful for the chance to try Burei watches and I’m glad to spread the word, because their name, to me, is now synonymous with Quality. You can’t go wrong with Burei. And Hubby can’t wait for his next one!

As an aside, Burei has been amazing to me, and I think the rep I’ve been working with wanted to go above and beyond, and since I was reviewing men’s watches for Hubby, thought I should get a little gift as well, and included an adorable little hair clip for me. That’s the kind of awesome Burei is. I’m happy o support them and recommend them to everyone I can.

From time to time, I get offered jewelry to review, and while I usually pass on it, the whimsy of this piece struck a fancy with me and I decided to give it a try.

Made from stainless steel and then plated in titanium, this new take on a traditional heart-shaped necklace is cute and seems to be made well enough to last a good long time. The contrasting silver (hers) and black plating (his) is a real eye catcher when interlocked, though sadly there’s no feasible way to wear the entire heart together, as the come un-clasped easily. The stainless steel ball chain necklace is a different story for me, as I have long, fine hair and it catches and gets stuck in necklaces like these, so I did have to wear my pendant on a different necklace, but at a little over 19″ long, it should fit around almost every neck. It’s a little light and feels pretty cheap, but I look at it as an included bonus and not a reason to buy or not buy this particular piece of jewelry. The pointy edges of the separated heart halves can be a little on the pointy side, so I would keep the necklace you wear it on short.
There are two crystal “gems” in each half of the Evermarker charm that add a sparkle and shine, and plays well with the shiny and matte elements of the charm. Each half of the charm is inscribed with “I Love You” so there’s no doubting your feelings when you share it with you loved one. The listing on Amazon is a touch misleading, calling it “Titainum Steel”, and careful reading of the product description tells you it’s titanium plated stainless steel. Priced at $8.95 shipped for the set, it’s a cute little bargain that won’t put a serious dent in your pocketbook.

There’s a term some like to throw around, “Affordable Luxuries”. Usually it’s applied to disposable items with little use or value. So I was hesitant to apply that term to a watch, something my husband takes very seriously. But with a small semantic change, you can also drastically change a term’s meaning. Burei is Affordable Luxury, in every sense of both words.

There are cheap watches on the market, a ridiculous amount, made cheaply with poor materials and no craftsmanship, and won’t last kissing time. There are quite a few expensive watches as well, with bejeweled automatic movements, Swiss craftsmanship and jaw-dropping price tags. Somewhere in he middle are watches for everyday wear with quality builds and prices that won’t change your tax bracket. Some of their names are synonymous with value and quality. Seiko. Casio. Timex. Citizen. There’s a new player on the block, and Burei is going to be making a splash in the market very soon!

Burei is a new watchmaker but you’d never know it from the fit and finish of their products. Priced to meet any budget, this Burei Chronograph has the heft and feel of a watch that cost 10 times as much. The croc embossed caflskin strap (at a healthy 20mm!) with contrast stitching makes a bold statement immediately. But the bright accents on the face are just as striking, and fully functional. The 42mm case and decorative bezel are a wonderful mix of polished and brushed stainless steel. The chronograph pushers are knurled, have a cobalt blue finish on the tips, and are easy to use. The mineral crystal should is bright and clear and should be scratch resistant to all but the most deliberate abuse. The pushers for the chronograph functions are smooth, and the functions are a breeze to control. The screw-down case back is water resistant to 50m, and the Japanese quartz movement is precise and made to last. You get a day and date window at the 3 o’clock marker, and a ticking second hand on the bottom chronograph window. It rests easy on the wrist and doesn’t feel heavy, and isn’t a huge, obnoxious “wrist clock”, but a has an understated elegance that means the watch will be good for work, built well enough for leisure activities, and sharp enough for wearing with a suit. All of this, and they provide a warranty card, detailed and clear instructions, a presentation box with pillow, and a gift bag, and at just $49.99 shipped from Amazon, this is a STEAL. I mean, I’ve paid so much more for some of Hubby’s watches and gotten sooo much less, I wish I’d known about Burei sooner! These watches make a great gift, an amazing Groomsman gift, or just a Every Day Watch for the man in your life.
But Burei didn’t stop there. They stand behind their timepieces. If you’re unsatisfied for any reason in the first 30 days, you get a full and complete refund, no questions asked. Any quality issues in the first 12 months? No problem, Burei will refund 100% of the purchase price. Any problems in the first 24 months? Send it back to Burei and they’ll get it back to spec for free. And when bought through Amazon, you get a 2-year Asurion warranty instead. That’s peace of mind you don’t get with most brands, but Burei believes in their product, and I believe in Burei. They have an entire line of quality timepieces that fit any and all styles, from a basic dress watch to a gorgeous automatic line, and prices so attractive, there’s no reason to not pick up a few.

Hubby has sung the praises of his tungsten carbide wedding band for years and years now. He to this day says it’s one of the best gifts I’ve ever given him, and it still shines like the day I got it for him. He’s rough on his ring, and once wore a silver one until it looked like it’d been run over by a freight train. But this one takes everything he dishes out and asks for seconds. So when the chance to get one of my own popped up, I was thrilled.

I have a couple of rings, one very nice one Hubby proposed with, and a second one he bought a few years later that is more understated and reflected my changing tastes. But to this day I’d never had just a simple band, and I was very much looking forward to it. I say that in the past tense because, for me, this one missed the mark for it’s intended purpose. I was asked what size ring I wear (Size 6), and I submitted that to them, but when it came time to purchase, the smallest size was a 7. And it’s not like you can size tungsten carbide either. So I still don’t have my simple tungsten wedding band, but I do have a nice ring that is polished to a brilliant shine and hasn’t gotten a single ding or scratch in the days I’ve worn it, and for me that’s a real accomplishment. It’s heavy, and comfort fit so getting it off and on is a breeze. It’s also completely hypoallergenic, and won’t discolor your skin like some silver and costume jewelry will. It even came in a pretty little box and slip sleeve, although the ring was too thick for the ring holder to “grab” properly in the box.

Overall, I highly recommend TAN’S tungsten carbide wedding band if you’re looking for a “beater” ring that won’t ever look beaten. I’m still on the hunt, personally, but for those of you who wear a 7 and above, this ring is real keeper.

Hubby wears no jewelry, save for his wedding band. In fact, he’s adamant about it. Years and years ago, I got him a tungsten carbide band, with three diamonds in it. Because he’s rough on his ring, and his old gold band had seen better days. And he needs a ring that can stand up to every day beatings, and still not look like an old run-over lock nut he found in a parking lot. But, steel is steel, even if it’s tungsten, and I wanted something nicer for when we go out, and boy howdy if this Titanium and Gold Band from Glytterati doesn’t fit that need to a tee!

With titanium rings, it seems a lot of manufacturers want to put all manner of goofy inlays, of intricate designs, or laser etch something trendy into it. Finding a simple, elegant ring that is at least 8mm used to be a nightmare for me. Anything smaller on Hubby’s sausage fingers tends to look…feminine. His original tungsten band was 9mm, and it still looked slim on his finger, but the gold ion plating of the Gytterati ring sets off the edges and makes the 8mm band look a little larger. The gold ion plating runs from one edge, all around the inside, and back to the other edge and is polished to a mirror finish. Running around the middle of the band is a brushed silver titanium that contrasts nicely while having a beautiful luster. The inside of the band is comfort-fit, so sliding the ring off and on won’t be a problem, and it’s thin enough that it won’t add to the callous on his palm like his tungsten ring. It’s also easily half the weight of Hubby’s old tungsten carbide ring, all while being just as thick. The flat edges top and bottom are a little rougher than the rounded edges of his old ring, but the fit is still nice and Hubby frequently forgets he’s wearing it.

One small issue is that, for a lot of these types of rings, they only come in whole sizes, and Hubby is a half. He squeezes his finger into a ten, but really he needs a 10 & 1/2. So my only complaint is I wish they came in half sizes. Titanium wears well and is very scratch resistant, but should you get a scratch on it, there’s almost no way to buff it out like gold, silver or platinum. But Glytterati offers both their “lifetime guarantee” and their “Scratch Proof Guarantee” in which they state should your ring scratch easily, or gets damaged, or you just don’t like it, return it for a full refund. I would assume the return shipping cost is up to you. The Glytterati Titanium Band looks much nicer than the $14.99 price point belies, and I’m glad Hubby got to try one out.

After a short stay-cation I have jumped back into my blog with both feet, and I hope to hit the ground running with SoulKu. I love their intimate approach to “feel-good” jewelry and their dedication to sustainability and human interaction. So let’s begin.

“Soul-Full of Light” is the theme of this batch of beauties, and. I’m just over the moon with how cute, delicate these little pieces are. I got to take 3 of them out for a test run, and my favorite has got to be Cracked Agate.
As the card it was attached to states, it’s full of love and positivity and is steeped in “positivity, self-confidence and clarity”. While I can’t directly attribute the good vibes I felt to the necklace specifically, I can say with absolute clarity that it certainty didn’t hurt in those steps either.
My second favorite has got to be the Azure Blue Crystal. And while the card purports to “carry the energies of calm, inspiration and spirituality”, I can attest to the fact that it’s just darling around my neck, so the rest to me is a big bonus. Faceted to reflect the light, it’s a sight to behold on bright, sunny California days.
Last but by no means least is the Noreena Jasper. The card it was attached to says that it’s imbued with the “power to
support, grounding, release of negative energies, and freedom”, I’ll state that it’s also imbued with a rich earthy beauty that just looks too cute around your neck. Almost like a cacao bean, I had to be careful hubby didn’t try to snack on it.
All three pieces come on a golden gossamer thread with metal clasps, and on thoughtful, inspirational cards, and in your choice of 16″, 17″, or 18″ lengths. 10% of each sale goes directly to Women for Women International, a worthwhile charity if there ever was one. I highly recommend clicking that link to learn more.

Like every other SoulKu piece sold, as well as the previous ones I’ve reviewed, the emphasis is on making, nurturing and maintaining personal relationships. Too often we get caught up in our digital lives, and forget that we’re physical creatures that crave touch, talk, and interaction, on a physical and spiritual level. With all the hustle and bustle in our lives, sometimes we can unintentionally forgo what should matter the most to us:. Each other. SoulKu wants to remind us, with their jewelry, Eco-friendly cards, and simple envelopes that in the end, reaching out and touching someone matters more that whatever “update” our myriad of devices tell us are happening all day, every day. Thanks for that, SoulKu. I hope each and every one of you has the chance to be “reminded” by them as well.

When I was contacted by SoulKu to review a few of their pieces, I was flattered. While I get to try a lot of yummy treats, awesome face and body products, as well as wonderful cosmetics, things I can hold fast to are not that common. SoulKu was nice enough of send 5 different pieces, as well as other little treats for me to share. More on that later.

For now, let’s dive into my first 2 SoulKu pieces, the SoulKu Intention Necklaces. This is a fabulous, fresh twist on an old idea: daily affirmation cards. The idea here is that you write your goal, idea, or inspiration on the card, put it somewhere you’ll always see it, and have a pretty little reminder around your neck all day as well. How cool is that? SoulKu also went the extra mile and made sure your necklaces are infused with the power of either Amethyst (for empowerment & achievement) or Amazonite (for inspiration & hope), so you can choose which power stone you feel best suits your daily need. Priced at $21, you could easily make both part of your routine. Not feeling the need for amethyst or Amazonite? How about Carnelian (for motivation) or Sodalite (for self-esteem)? There’s really something for everyone. Each 16 , 17, or 18 inch necklace has 5 5-6 millimeter faceted stones hand threaded on a golden nylon cord, with silver-plate hardware. Made in Asheville, North Carolina, this is a “Made in the U.S.A.” product that you’ll be proud to wear prominently. It’s a simple piece that goes with any look or style. Understated and delicate, but still eye-catching.
Even the Intention Cards are well thought out, and eco-friendly. The packages are eco-friendly. They are committed to using local vendors where possible, they donate a portion of each sale to various charities… I mean, do these people have their stuff together or what? Even the number of stones is chosen to maximize the good vibrations this little beauty provides. And did I mention? It just looks great too.
Everything here is clearly thought through, as (to quote their website):
“… SoulKu & Infinite Possibilities
The word “Ku” in Japanese translates to “a place of infinite possibility.” We like to think of our company as just that, “A place where, guided by our soul’s calling, anything is possible.” Our products reflect that idea and are meant to inspire deeper connection and action in others… ”
How ’bout that?
SoulKu is all about personal connections. Keeping things close, inspiring others, giving back. Human touch in an impersonal world. That’s an idea we should all get behind. We spend far too long staring at out various sundry screens and not enough time interacting with the world and the people around us. While it might be a lot to ask of one pretty little necklace to help us all reach out and just touch the person next to us instead of texting them, it sure is a nice thing to remind us to start.

Another great Klout perk! Who doesn’t love getting boxes filled with goodies? Certainly not this gal! This one had a nice mix of items from jewelry to nail polish, and all courtesy of People’s Magazine. Definitely a great way in getting that V.I.P. feeling across! They call the items below Editor’s Pick and that means People’s Magazine did the hard work of testing things out to knowing what is currently H-O-T at the moment!

Let’s get started on the goodies…….

1. Hungry Girl: Chew the Right Thing
A cute but also informational diet book that helps in making better choices when it comes to eating. Perfect timing with Summer creeping closer and that means swimsuit weather too. You don’t want to eat yourself out of a bikini and this little set gives you 50 recipe cards filled with less guilty versions of the food you enjoy munching on. The low caloric versions range from everything like sweet treats, drinks, to full meals. Easy to follow and playful at the same time!

2. Zoya Nail Polish in color Rue
I have tried most brands out there of nail polishes and I once owned a Zoya in a red hue, however it was a bright red and so not me that I gave it away. Wanting to gift it to someone meant not trying it and I always pondered about the brand, many a times walking around Ulta with a bottle but never making the commitment to actually buy it and taking it home. I love neutral shades and I am guilty of purchasing the same color but from different brands. I don’t mean to but there are those tones that just make you smile and this Rue color is it for me. I love how it is a shade that goes with any season and any mood. It’s pretty, noticeable but does not scream out, “look at my nails”…..it sort of just goes with the flow kind of color. I also became a fan of Zoya’s formula because it makes me look like an expert when applying even when I try convincing my left paw to stop shaking. I was able to do a polka dot accent nail because it was one of my better less shaking going on nail polishing days!

A comb-slash-brush but without a stick. You would think it’s like a broken brush and what’ the fuss? It comes down to control and less stress to your hair. The wand on a brush tends to make you put out more “umph” and this is why so many times we accidentally pull on (or out) our own hair even when it’s ourselves doing the brushing. I’m not into pain and much less tangles, so this little palm miracle makes we have less ouch and I can use it with wet or dry hair. I also like that there is no stick to deal with, so it travels well too.

4. Delicate Spring Bracelet
A gold accented bracelet that is light on the wrist and can easily be combined with other items to get that “stackable” look we are seeing with everything. We layered clothes for a while, so it seems we are now doing it with our accessories too. I liked the gold shimmer part but the plastic blue wires were just not me. I will not be tossing this piece away but with a little D.I.Y, I will be making this into something that is more “me” and that is the whole point when it comes to looks, you go with what you like!

5. Chevron Beauty Set
Three different sized bags that feature a nice green colored chevron pattern. I have make-up bags that I store inside other make-up bags because every bag has been used, needed, and even borrowed at one point. Easy closure and I love that these are also wipe-able inside. I’m not a make-up spill”er” but my purses are spotless because these baggies have saved me one time or another. Purses get dropped, stepped on to I have caught my husband using mine as an arm rest. I now still yell but with less spazing if anything was crushed and made a mess. I also use the larger one for half frozen water bottles that are cold and sweat….sort of like when you go to see a movie and don’t want to pay $6 for 8 ounces of H2o. Not that I’m giving you ideas or anything 🙂

6. People Magazine Subscription
I am reader of all magazines and this usually comes about that I run out of things to read and I’ll read anything for entertainment. I’m not a huge celebrity follower but enjoy entertainment news, like what is coming out soon to what got axed that I just started watching. People’s has it all, to shopping tips and even make-up advice. I will be enjoying my 3 months of entertainment along with my goodies!
I have said it before and if this box does not convince you, I have no idea what will. Join Klout! It’s a great way to experience what you already like and also a bit of the new so you can change up now and then. I was unsure I would enjoy People’s Magazine and wrote it off in the past but I just learned a new thing, I actually found articles I enjoyed to even coupons!
