Ozeri 360 Oscillation Tower Fan

We’ve tried a few fans from Ozeri, because let’s face it, in California, it’s not actually “cold” all that often. And this Ozeri 360 Oscillation fan is just phenomenal in almost every regard, and might even be my favorite.

To start, this fan is whisper-quiet at it’s lowest setting, much more so than the other two Ozeri fans I have tried. There are a ton of functions controlled by either the on-fan control panel or the included IR remote control, like an 8-hour timer and 3 different pre-programmed airflow patterns. There’s almost too many choices! The remote is markedly improved over the last generation, with quick responses to the lightest touch from any angle. The 360 Oscillation Tower Fan from Ozeri also uses cylindrical motion technology with over 200 staggered micro-blades, making the operation quieter than traditional fan blades, and usually reserved for much more expensive brands. The oscillation is (of course) up to 360 degrees, with options for 60, 90, and 120 degrees as well. It’s slim and the oscillation is smooth and quiet as well, so the form factor and obtrusiveness is minimal and not attention-getting.

However, it’s not all wine and roses. The base is flimsy, and can be terribly unsteady on carpeted floors. It also lacks non-skid or non-marking feet on the base, which can be a concern with softer natural tiles. This is really something that, at $90.79, should absolutely be included. The base needs to be upgraded immediately, because I’d hate for a fan as nice as this to be damaged by toppling over due to a poorly-designed base. Unusual, because the other 2 fans I’ve tested from Ozeri had rock-solid bases. At any rate, the value is undeniable and the operation is smooth. Assuming you can live with or work around the issues with the base of the fan, you’ve got another excellent Ozeri product.

We are no strangers to Ozeri in this house. In fact, we’re huge fans, no pun intended. They make some very high quality products that are priced very competitively with competitors, and stand behind their products 100%. So it should come as no shock that their latest offering to us is also a slam dunk, the Ozeri Ultra 42″ Tower Fan.

Not our first Ozeri fan, but quickly becoming our favorite. We had an opportunity to really try this fan out before the weather in SoCal took a turn and the temps dropped all on their own, and we came away impressed. It looks as fancy as it functions, and it functions so well too! The included remote control is, in my opinion, much better than than the included slim remote included with the Ozeri 3X, and is more substantial. Where one had to be closer and almost directly in front of the fan to get the 3X remote to function, the Ozeri Ultra’s remote works from anywhere and at any angle. The base is wide and sturdy and means your fan wont be tipping over, even when put of high pile carpet like ours. There’s cord storage in the base so you don’t have to worry about a long unsightly cord on the floor to trip over. # speed settings, 90 degree oscillation, quiet almost noiseless function, wireless remote, and a big, bright LCD screen that even tells you what the ambient room temperature is! You can even assemble it without a single tool! There’s just so much to love with this new Ozeri Ultra 42″ fan that I might send the 3X Tower fan to Hubby’s workout room from here on out!

It might not seem like the weather is optimal now for a tower fan, but trust me when I tell you it’s better to grab the products you don’t need now (but will later!) today than be the one left wanting in a few months when the temperatures start to rise and you’re left scrambling to get a product you could have had on hand already! Cornucopia Brands: Pack of 2 Clear Glass Bottles, with Sprayers and Labels #Review #CBClearGlassBottles

I have always made my own mixtures when it comes to cleaning products, to stain removers, and even weed killers. The one thing that always fails me is not the mixes I create, but the bottles themselves. I have had bottles that constantly drip because the sprayers are cheap. They drip even when not in use to the point they empty and have even damaged a shelf in the garage.  This not only wastes product but also creates another mess I need to clean up. My last bottle had a sprayer that was so cheaply made, that if you filled the bottle to it’s highest level, the sprayer would pop off because the weight was too much. Infuriating!! I love also when companies label them “pro” as in professional and heavy-duty when they could not even spray simple water out successfully.  Most even clog or half-spray after a few uses.

Verdict:

I was already familiar with Cornucopia’s Brand of the cobalt blue bottle with sprayer, and I rank it as my number one favorite sprayer from anything I have tried in the past. I have purchased spray bottles from Industrial stores to hardware stores and none are as good in performance and long lasting as the Cornucopia Brands bottles. The clear glass makes it easy to identify what the bottles contain and if you have doubts, the easy stick on labels not only give the bottles an adorable look, but you can write what is in the sprayers, plus the label is large enough if you want to include contents of the mixes you made. These are great for anyone from people who just buy refill solutions, make their own, or just want to transfer contents from ready-made mixtures, but desire a better sprayer. I am 100% satisfied with everything from looks, spray and how they continuously spray without a hiccup. I used one bottle to make my own salt water spray to use for my hair and the other I mixed a weed killer solution of white vinegar, salt and a few squirts of soap. The bottles are clear, so it was easy to know when the mixture of salt had fully dissolved and I could begin spraying. I save money and at the same time get rid of those pesky weeds without harming the surroundings for the animals that visit us like the squirrels, raccoon and birds. It’s a win-win product in my book!

US Art Supply: 3″ x 3″ Mini Professional Primed Stretched Canvas (1-Pack of 12-Mini Canvases) #Review #UsArtSupply

I again welcome US Art Supply to the blog and this time they sent the most adorable little canvases for me to review. I have been on an art and craft kick that seems to have no end to it, so you can see why my love for US Art Supply runs so strong.

The miniature canvases measure 3 inches by 3 inches, with a 3/8 of an inch profile. These canvases are made using acid free gesso and are triple primed, so you have a nice thick platform to create on. The canvas material is stretched by hand and over wooden “stretcher bars” that are made with kiln dried wood, which tends to not lose it’s shape. Your art remains beautifull for year to come without worry of sag or destruction to the image. If you put the work in to make something, it should reward you with years of lasting so you can enjoy it!

Verdict:
I figure it was time to make something for a bare wall that has been in our library/office. I have geodes and the such on the book shelves along with books but I wanted something that represents nature, but had a unique appearance. Something educational but also contained beauty and because I love to garden, I figured an homage to bees. These little guys not only help my citrus trees produce fruit, keep my berry bushes producing boysenberries, but they love everything from the rose garden to the hibiscus bushes we have along the wall. Always busy and buzzing, plus with the amount of bees lowering in count, I figured it was time to show appreciation for the little workers. I went with a green background to keep within nature’s colors and sketched a bee (of course with a US Art Supply pencil). I went with metal flowers to add contrast to the piece and again a different element of texture. I gathered some worker bees that seemed to have worked too hard and perished (in the pool) and put them under a glass dome and in a bottle using copper wire. I even took US Art Supply’s 3 x 4 inch canvas and used it backwards to create a honey store. These canvases can be used more than just the front-side and that is what I love about them! The material is smooth even on the backside and because US Art Supply takes care in production, the back portion is made nice enough to be usable. I fixed everything to a floral fabric and redid a vintage frame into a shadowbox frame, to provide more depth. This also allows me to use large items like glass bottles and domes. I collected everything I had on bees from charms to even earrings (bee wings) that I used for the honey bottles and the bumble bee earrings to be featured flying around the black colored rose on the fabric, just like they fly around the flowers. Simple and really just re-purposing what I had around the home because I figured a bee uses all it can in nature to keep working (or for me crafting)!

#Ozeri 3X Tower Fan w/ Passive Noise Reduction Technology

 

I got a chance recently to try another great product from Ozeri, and it may be my favorite of their products yet. Not only did this Ozeri 3X Tower Fan come at the best seasonal time ever, But it looks super snazzy, and all at once blends with the decor and still stands out.

 

Starting with the overall look, it is a glossy polycarbonate housing that feels sturdy, resists fingerprints well, and wipes clean what few prints it might catch with just a quick wipe of a microfiber cloth. And it’s only about 3″ thick! Wow! It has a sturdy, tempered glass base that securely anchors the fan flat to the floor. And it’s so quiet. I can hardly even hear it in the room on it’s low setting. So that’s the Passive Noise reduction at work. With upgraded, canted fan blades that “…utilize the physics of blade curvature to generate opposing sound waves to reduce blade noise and isolate the soothing sounds of the airflow itself”. This, I can really appreciate. And speaking of settings…This amazing fan has nearly an infinite number of settings thanks to the three independently controllable fans. You can have one, two or all three running, top and bottom, middle alone, top alone, 3 different speeds, variable speed “Nature” mode (which cycles between speeds at 5 second intervals. It’s much cooler that I can even describe. It has a sleep mode which cycles down from high to low in Nature modes at 30 minute intervals.

Oh, did I mention it swings side to side? And you can turn it off if so desired to be stationary? Yeah, it does that. But wait, there’s more. There’s a timer that can be set to half-hour increments, up to a 7.5 hour timer.  All of these amazing features are easily controllable via the touch screen tastefully backlit at the top of the fan. But hold on to your socks, my dear readers. Don’t feel like getting up to go across the room to change the myriad of settings? You don’t have to. This awesome fan comes with a remote control! Every feature I just covered can be controlled via the remote control. Which comes in handy when one person gets a chill long after the other has cooled down.

I could keep going on and on about this fan. It looks great, has a ton of features, and works great. It even came with the CR2032 battery needed for the remote!!!! I love to share that batteries are included! It comes in glossy black, flat silver, and white so it will match any decor in any home with ease. With summer just around the corner, this fan is a great way to cut your cooling bills. Ozeri makes great products that they stand behind 100%, no questions asked, for an entire year. Quality Source Products: Red and Green colored Laser Beam Landscape Lighting #Review #LaserLights

I received this item from Quality Source Products and was amazed at the differences between the item pictured and the actual item delivered. In short, it is nothing at all like the item advertised. It has a defective attachment from the cord to the power supply, which is neither weather proof and much less water proof, as stated in the manual.  It is clearly a hazard. It in fact does not meet up at all (connecting to complete a closed circuit) and would probably cause a short immediately. When I notified the company of this, their only response was that they are aware of the problem and have notified the factory. Aaand?! Well, sadly, “and” nothing. That’s it. No offer to replace, return or to refund. Thankfully this is an item the company discounted to me 100% and I didn’t pay a penny of the $199.99 (at the time) price tag.

It is a laser pointer. Dual color, broadcast over a wide area, but that’s all. There is no timer, no on/off switch. It is not “low voltage”. In fact, the AC adapter provided looks nothing like the power supply pictured. It gets hot quickly, has no way to control any functions, , no timer, and the only way to turn it off and on is to plug or unplug it, but I wouldn’t be too concerned about that because the first morning’s dew will probably short it out anyways since the power connection doesn’t fit properly and won’t lock.  The “instructions” provided make mention of a remote control, but I’m not sure if it works with one or if they sell one. And if they did sell one, if it would even be compatible.

The stake provided is cheap zinc, cast so shoddily it’s crooked. The housing has a gob of black silicone that I suppose is meant to keep out moisture/water, except, it’s pulled away from the housing by the cord, so it won’t.

I appreciate the company sending me this item to test, and I usually try to grade these things generously because I’ve not paid for them, but this thing is defective, dangerous and clearly not made to last. There’s just so much wrong with it, I can’t recommend it. In fact, I think it and the company should be avoided. And to add insult to injury, they picture something that they clearly are not selling, and pricing it high for reasons I can’t discern. Purchase at your own risk.

Again, not even close. What my pictures simply cannot convey is the overwhelming disorientation hundreds of little laser points cause. Spatial relationships are lost, and I almost felt dizzy. This is a bad product, with no practical applications and what’s worse is they clearly don’t care about quality of their product or the safety of their buyers. To add insult to (potential) injury, casting a laser pointer into the sky, as this is clearly designed to do, can be illegal in some places. I rarely have so many bad things to say about a product, but this company went above and beyond to do everything wrong here.

Majestic Pure Oils: Essential Therapeutic Grade Peppermint Oil #Review #PeppermintOil

 

In the world of essential oils and the like, many companies like to make things fuzzy by using terms as, Pharmaceutical Grade and/or Therapeutic Grade. Who grades or certifies these oils? No one! You have trust the supplier, unless you get into food grades where the FDA grades and then you hear terms as Virgin, Extra Virgin and the like. When it comes to real certifications, where you pay an agency for them to come in, inspect and grade your materials, you then see such certifications like the “Non-GMO” and Organic labels. It comes down to sources and knowing them, so I am a bit critical when it comes to oils and I always think about what will I be using them for and price point attached.

 

Majestic Oils, is a company that carries an array of products and especially oils. They have “Carrier” oils, which get used in addition to essential oils. Think of a candle and the wax is the carrier, where the fragrance would be the essential oil. I was sent a bottle of their, Peppermint Oil to try.

Benefits/Evidence of Peppermint Oil in Essential form:
Beyond it’s soothing scent and being able to clear our nasal passages, Peppermint oil can provide you with many benefits. As I researched, I found many use the oil for stomach problems like nausea and vomiting, however I did see it could worsen heartburn. While many find the oil to sooth the skin, adverse reaction is a possibility if you are sensitive to the plant. You will need to do your research and I went by scientific findings versus just anecdotal evidence. I like balancing out what people report and measure it against what can be proven. I found mostly the essential oil was safer if used as a way to relieve nasal congestion but keeping in mind that for some, it can cause headaches.

I kept the aforementioned in mind and used the product in oil essential form to re-freshen the home, since we keep doors and windows shut close doing colder weather. Being that I suffer from allergies and always congested, I did find mixing the essential Peppermint oil with the Fractionated Coconut oil from Majestic Pure, was the perfect match! The oil filled the home with what I forgot was the true scent of peppermint. I got so use to faux smells that I forgot how calming a scent with cooler notes can be. It did freshen up the home, which I found pleasurable and that alone made me feel good. Think of what lavender can do and peppermint shares the same aromatherapy properties. I actually enjoyed it and threw anything away that claimed to be peppermint scented and was not. The essential oil by Majestic Pure also goes far! I just needed to use a few drops with the other oil, to achieve that perfect balance.

My small and only Con- The dropper is included and while it’s glass and I love it…..it’s just sort of thrown in with bubble wrap into a box where the bottle fits well but not with the dropper. The dropper comes apart easily, as that is how it arrived. Being that the oil could be used on the skin and such, it just did not seem like the most sanitary way to include this. Maybe just adding it to the bottle and including the smaller (non-dropper) top would have been wiser. I cleared the dropper with alcohol because it just seemed as the smart thing to do 🙂  This con would not keep me from buying though!

AYL® Silicone Heat Resistant Grilling BBQ Gloves Set #Review #AYLsiliconeGlove

It’s no big secret I cook. A lot. So handling hot dishes and pans is pretty much an occupational hazard. What you may not know is hubby also grills. A lot. Except grilling can be messy, even more so sometimes than normal cooking and baking. Gloves are a must. So these AYL silicone grilling gloves are a product long overdue for this house. Made from heat-resistant (Up to 425°!), BPA free silicone, dishwasher safe, and one size fits most. Let’s dive right in.

And To start, these grill mitts do indeed fit most. Both hubby and I fit into them with no problem when we tried them on.  While they are “heat resistant”, you will still feel the temperature through the gloves. So I wouldn’t hang onto hot things for very long. And while they did fit, don’t expect to be terribly dexterous while wearing them. A plus AND minus is the little grippy nubs surrounding the mitts. They are little heart shaped, which while timely and adorable, might be off putting to overly manly-men types. They also get BBQ shmutz stuck in between them due to being so deep. But, a little soap and a dish brush and you’re good as new. The pair have little hanging holes for storage/drying, and the bright red color means even Mr. Distracted, Hubby, can find them in the dark. Another big plus of the silicone is that it won’t hold scents or smells easily. And if you’ve ever handled smoked meats, you know those scents seriously linger.

Lest you think these are good for outdoors only, they are winners inside the house too. With normal oven mitts, you’re lucky to have a thumb. Which makes grabbing some pans, lids or dishes a game of “Do I really have a hold of it?”. Anyone who’s found out they didn’t knows how much fun that can be when it’s all down the front of your clothes or all over the kitchen floor. A thing of the past with these mitts. Overall, the positives far outweigh the negatives, and with a “free premium lifetime guarantee” included, you can’t go wrong here. I’d say grab a pair and try them on for size.

Everyone loves this time of the year. The sights, the sounds, the tastes and the smells. Oh, the smells. Rich, buttery, spicy. Sometimes the smells alone put 2lbs on you. But then, as with all good things, the holidays come to a close and sometimes, the smells remain. Not scents, mind you…smells.

My gripes with candles have always been that so many are all sizzle, no steak. Fancy packaging, exotic names, drop dead scents that don’t spread further than a foot away once lit. This one? Every other candle company should hang their heads in shame. Not only does it look like a million bucks, it smells like it too. But, if I had one reservation going in, it’s the cost. $32 is no small amount for one candle, but if I hadn’t tried it, I’m not sure I’d believe it was worth it. But I did, and I do. And I’m thankful for the opportunity. Now almost 1 month in and I still have almost half the candle with near daily use. Even burning with no tunneling, so you don’t feel like it’s not being used completely, no crackle from the all natural, lead-free wick, quick lighting and a with soft, calming glow. With 2 other Loft scents available (spicy cinnamon with orange, nutmeg & clove notes, as well as lilac with sweet vanilla & jasmine notes), and more collections on the way, there is definitely one for you!
