Iridesi “Scarlet Edition” Etched Glass Fine Grit Nail Files, Set of 2

I do my own nails on a semi-regular basis, because it’s one of those little things I can do for myself that doesn’t take a lot of time, and I like taking care of myself from time to time. Part of any good at-home manicure is nail maintenance, and part of good nail maintenance is using good tools, like these nifty Iridesi Etched Glas Nail Files. I think I’ve found the new gold standard in nail files!

Different from normal abrasive file sticks, with glued on substances like aluminum oxide, these Iridesi files are one solid piece of acid-etched glass with no glued-on abrasives, and better than a harsh metal file that can leave your nails rough. These Iridesi files will never need to be replaced (unless I’m not careful with them) and will last for many, many years. They’re hypoallergenic and so incredibly easy to keep clean as well, just brush the nail dust off and dip them in rubbing alcohol and you’re as good as new! There’s so many benefits to these, with the only drawback being that because they are glass, you need to handle them with a little bit more care than the usual disposable ones. That means no dropping them on hard surfaces, or just tossing them in your purse and going. But Iridesi thought ahead and anticipated a gal’s need to be on the move and provided you with sturdy plastic cases that keep the nail files (and your purse’s contents as well!) safe from harm. So, they’re function, beautiful, and when you consider that they’ll outlive traditional files by a number of years, so affordable I can’t see any reason to not pick up a set!

Sometimes things only seem pricier at first, until you do some math and realize that a file that never gets dull is better than buying and replacing nail files all the time. And, there’ really no harm in a functional tool looking fabulous too, and Iridesi made sure their files look like a million bucks while keeping your nails looking like a million bucks themselves! I’m sold on etched glass nail files, and I think when you try them you will be too!

AStorePlus®: 8 Pcs Nail Art Design/Detailing Painting Brushes with Dotting Pen Set #Review #NailArtBrush

DSC_0248 (1)

As a nail polish enthusiast……okay, I have dozens of bottles and sometimes even accidentally buy the same color because I forget what I own! I have also been down the nail art alley of products, to now have a sense what works and what does not. Price wise, I have also paid well for brushes that their art was leaving bristles behind when used. I called it “surprise brushes” because you never knew when they would come apart and/or how many bristles they would surprise you with. This taught me when one brush shows any sign of failure, just trash the thing!

In comes AStorePlus with an assortment of 7 brushes and 1 dotting tool. I have a set that came in a zipper pouch and love that set. Never a surprise bristle attack and because the brush sticks are made of plastic that can be wiped to clean, acetone is not a something to fear when cleaning up my supplies. The AStorePlus collection features:

  • Smooth Wooden handles painted in a White color with a black design
  • A Dotting tool made of metal tip
  • The 7 brushes come in different sizes with an assortment of thickness and angles
  • A long metal shaft/sleeve, which holds the bristles tightly and allows the user to get a nice angle for easy use and cleaning

Retail Price Point: A collection of nail art 7 brushes and 1 dotting tool for $5.25 with free shipping on Amazon.

Verdict:
When I received these, I noticed they feature painted wood handles, but what these brushes feature that others of like kind don’t, is that long metal shaft/sleeve to allow cleaning without seeping onto the painted wood area. Cleaning is a major concern both for hygiene purposes but also to keep the tools clean enough for longevity and re-usability. Other brushes feature a short metal shaft that can cause the consumer to accidentally come in contact with the wooden painted handle, making the manufacture’s paint bleed and disintegrate. Thankfully, the AStorePlus brushes avoid this from occurring and had the forethought of having long metal shafts to avoid this from happening. I use acetone because I don’t want residue on my nails from glycerin or additives that may not allow polishes or nail art to last, causing a short lived manicure. This means a brush has to be able to soak (short-term) in a cap of acetone, which I save the older caps from used bottles to do this with. The AStorePlus brushes sat in acetone and not once did the liquid wick up towards the top to meet with painted handle. I found the handles to be a comfortable length and ergonomic enough to allow my left hand to work on my right hand’s nails with ease. I have used the brushes 4 times and every time they clean and return to their natural shape and point when dried. I saved the plastic sleeves for each brush, so this allows me to keep the points in shape when stored in the same pouch I keep all my nail art brushes in. I have paid more for 3 brushes than what the 8 tools here cost on Amazon. The price point makes this an affordable hobby and also makes a perfect beginner’s set to own. Like with make-up brushes, I don’t use everything in a collection but I learned with time what heads I used more and later purchased duplicates of the sizes and angles I wanted. The same applies here and so far this set has the finer points I seek, so that means I use more of the brushes than I thought I would. I was able to let go of any cuticle wooden sticks, as now I use 2 of the brushes in this set to clean around my cuticle with acetone for a clean edge look. It goes beyond art and also a may to get the best looking manicure you can get without issues and this set from AStorePlus was problem-free for me. I did my Halloween nails using just the brushes and they cleaned up black and dark red garnet polishes with ease, as they did at making fine white roses on a black background. With the holidays approaching, these are the perfect stocking stuffer to add and a welcoming site for any nail art beginner!

Naturalico: Pedicure Device and Callus Remover #Review #CallusRemover

DSC_0274

When it comes to pedicure devices and tools, there are many I have purchased and been gifted that end up not being used. Some are bulky and not worth the trouble of cleaning, like my Spa Foot Bath that released the stress when I soaked my feet, but it came back when it came to dumping the water and cleaning out the unit. I finally gave up and realized the sink may not make bubbles but it was easier to clean and disinfect after use. I like devices that are simple, practical and work! I don’t need to add more to clutter to units that make me feel guilty for buying them.

So far my foot care regimen has been soaking, sugar based foot scrubs and using a callus remover when needed. I don’t like cracked heals and with the weather in Southern California being off the record for Autumn, my feet are showing the stress with the crazy ups and downs in degrees. I wear flip flops around the house (outside) but only sandals if I go out, so I still want pretty feet 🙂 I needed an in-between device to add to my regimen and what Naturalico sent fit the bill perfectly!

DSC_0275

Naturalico, sent a rechargeable unit that helps with callus removal and polishing. I know the description states shaver but because the heads are made of a fine grit paper, which moves in a rolling motion, it has no blades and is more of a sander versus a shaver. The unit has a rechargeable battery and the best part, it’s super easy to clean. You just remove the head and can easily use the brush included to remove any debris and the unit is easy to disinfect, reassemble and it takes less than 5 minutes to have it ready for use for next time. No messes or having to clean a bunch of little pieces!

Verdict:
I must admit I went in thinking this would just be a gimmicky device but after just using the Naturalico device once, I became a believer. Now, this is for upkeep and not to be seen as a solution for feet that may suffer from deeper calluses that need an actual shaver (with metal blade) to accomplish removal. You may use the Naturalico for a deep clean and removal, but you would be using up the refills to get the pedicure you desire. I use a callus shaver every 3 months because I use slipper socks indoors and tend to be good about moisturizing my feet and I never walk barefoot outside. The pool tends to dry my feet out with the chlorinated water and I then get thin surface cracks from dryness. The Naturalico is so good that I may use a callus remover every 6 months (if even that) after the first initial use and removal. It keeps my feet perfectly smooth and polished. The unit has two speeds and I was able to use the lowest everywhere and went with the higher speed when used on my heels. It takes a few minutes to polish each foot up just for them took to look like they did after visiting a spa and getting a professional pedicure minus the cost.

Retail Price Point: $29.95 for the unit and the device comes to with 2 heads and even a storage bag. Free shipping for Amazon Prime Members. Refills are $9.99 for a package of two.

The first uses are the important ones and achieving a smooth look will take time. I shortened that time by using a bladed callus remover and then solely went to using the Naturalico unit. After getting my feet perfect looking and feeling, the Naturalico has been able to keep them looking that way week after week. I just use the unit once a week (on the weekends) and about 5 minutes per foot. That’s 10 minutes a week to have beautiful feet with a device you can use at home within your own schedule. No appointments needed 🙂
