I’m not the biggest Ohuhu fan, and when I apply to try and review products, I try to avoid Ohuhu because of the usually poor quality of their products and the complete lack of aftersales support. Unfortunately, Ohuhu obfuscates their name on Tomoson, using many pseudonyms, for reasons I’ll not speculate about here.

At any rate, I ended up getting these just storage “baskets”, but they’re not really baskets as much as bags of a sort, made from jute string and coated with a plastic on the inside. There’s no rigid sides or bottom, so they tend to slump and crinkle, so storing them less than completely full will lead to them slumping and semi-collapsing. And I don’t know what they coated these with in their plant in China, but there’s a funk to these Ohuhu “baskets”. I’ve left them out in the hopes that the smell will dissipate, but short of that I don’t know what I can do to get rid of the smell, because they have a water resistant coating. For $14.99 you get two sizes (Large: 16.5″ L x 13″W x 9.7″H and Small: 10″ L x 8.7 “W x 5.7″H), and they should hold a good amount of stuff so long as the bottom is supported. Without that support they turn more into the oddly shaped bags. And the goofy “ohuhu storage” logo in bold black letters on the side? Tacky and ugly. Thankfully it’s just on one side.

For your money, you could do worse, but there’s still enough wrong with them for me that i can’t recommend them too highly. There’s no forms or support on the sides or bottom, and they smell really bad. On the plus side they’re affordable and seem like they’d be fairly durable. I’ll leave it to my readers to decide if the negatives overpower the positives.

Ug, Ohuhu got me again. I like HisGadget, their parent company (Or maybe it’s the other way around, I don’t know), but anything with the Ohuhu name is made cheap and not made to last. This last item is no exception, only this one was much worse than usual. These “shoes” are awkward, made poorly, and there was very little thought given to design or to function.

In theory, aerating your lawn is day one stuff with lawn care. You need to break up the soil for the lawn to be healthy, and as I said, in theory, should be a simple task. Ohuhu disagrees with me and threw the components for these “shoes” loose into a box and said “Figure it out”. I mean, there were spikes, nuts, and straps everywhere in the box. Just reaching your hand in was a puncture hazard. There were no instruction on how to lace the straps, and the nuts meant to hols the spikes in place either didn’t fit well or the hole was too big and they went right through. Emailing Ohuhu for some clarification went in the Ohuhu hole and as usual, I received no response from them, once again illustrating that Ohuhu only cares about making the sale, and you’re 100% on your own after.

Yes, this whole mess was loose in the box!
I did manage to mickey-mouse one shoe on, and it stuck down deep into the earth and stayed there when I tried to walk off. It didn’t help that the angles drilled for the spikes varied which meant a couple popped off immediately and I had to unstrap the “shoe” and pull it out of the ground. Walking in it was impossible, and I can only imagine if I had both on, I’d have been anchored in place or turn an ankle badly. As I said, the idea of these is great and very useful. The execution was absolutely awful and I wouldn’t waste your money on these.

- I got mine from Amazon, you can see them here.

As an aside, it might seem that I’m choosing Ohuhu products solely to dump on them. That is absolutely not the case. Ohuhu, like many of the companies from China and Taiwan, is one of many DBA’s from a much larger parent company. They offer products under a bevy of names, and it’s not until I’m approved to review it that I find out it’s actually Ohuhu. Rest assured, I would be 100% thrilled to never deal with another poorly made Ohuhu product again, but so long as they’re going to obfuscate who they are, I’ll probably end up with a few more before all is said and done.

One of the biggest misnomers of our generation is the term “laptop”. Meant originally to convey the differences between the larger, non-portable “desktop” computer, the “laptop” quick morphed into something you really couldn’t and shouldn’t put on your lap. From the heat, to the vents, to the touchpad, using a laptop on one’s lap became almost an impossiblity. Enter Ohuhu’s Adjustable Vented Laptop Desk. All the problems of using your computer on your lap just got whisked away.

Not only is it made from a lightweight aluminum alloy, but the “legs” articulate to accommodate almost any position imaginable, lock securely into place, and they even included a mouse pad that attaches on the side to eliminate the hassle and inaccuracies inherent to a touchpad! And the best part, the part that will probably give your laptop a few extra years? It’s vented and actively cooled buy twin USB-powered fans! I’m….in…..heaven! No more cooked thighs, no more Hubby asking “Are your vents blocked?”, and no more strain on my processor from excess heat! And you can easily switch the fan off and on from the toggle switch beneath the desk. I’ve been able to move my “workstation” from the counter and a lightly padded barstool chair to almost anywhere in the house. My laptop is secured and safe, and I have no worries about balance, or my laptop falling. In fact, in the few weeks I’ve had this Ohuhu Adjustable Vented Laptop Desk, I can’t imagine going back to my life before I had it!
A few nits to pick here. One is the price. You can get identical products at much less than the $34.99 price point, and while after using it I’d gladly pay that, they can be found for $10 or more less. The next is the plastic “joints” in the aluminum armatures. I try not to reposition the “arms” too much for fear of these failing. I would like to see them beefed up a bit, perhaps to a heavier gauge ABS plastic. But these are minor concerns that should in no way take away from this spectacular product. Anyone who spends a significant amount of time on their “laptop” (there’s that word again!) should really do themselves and their computer a favor a pick one of these up, like, today.

Okay, so I’ve been a fan of most Ohuhu products in the past. They were reasonably priced, decent quality products. I had some issues with one and had some difficulty getting support, but I chalked that up to them being a newer company still getting their feet under them. This last product, that I received via Tomoson, came defective. It didn’t work. I tried to reach out to them, but received no response via email. I tried to go to the website linked in the promotion page; It took me to a Cindy Crawford website. The Amazon page where I was asked to review the product doesn’t lea to the product at all. Fail, fail and more fail.

When a company doesn’t get back to you once, it’s an oversight. When they send a second defective product and then completely ignore customers, that’s a pattern and a disturbing one. I no longer recommend anyone do business with Ohuhu. They don’t care about the products or the customer once they ship them out, and I don’t do business with people who treat their customers in such a fashion. Maybe one day they’ll get their act together. Today isn’t that day, and tomorrow’s not looking good either. Sorry about the short post, but I’m not going to waste any more time reviewing a product that doesn’t work from a company that doesn’t care.

ohuhu

We’ve been avid nature-watchers for some time now, and while it’s nice to watch from afar, sometimes you’d like a close up view without scaring nature away. The best way to do that up until recently had been for a cheap pair of binoculars I got for hubby at the County Fair years and years (and years!) ago. They were okay, and had decent magnification, but were dinky and cheap and not easily focused. Then Ohuhu offered us their 12X Monocular Telescope with Tripod. Nature just got a whole lot closer to us!

This Ohuhu Monocular Telescope has a big 52mm lens diameter, with an adjustable eyecup and comes with a tripod and cleaning cloth, as well as a wrist strap, lens cover and eyepiece cover, a durable carrying case, and is covered in a non-slip rubber “armor” coating that should protect it from minor drops, and the occasional bump. The field of view is wide and sharp, and the dual zoom action is smooth, making getting things in razor-sharp focus a breeze. I like that the lens cover stays attached to the body housing, and wish the eye cup cover did as well. The included aluminum tripod isn’t terribly sturdy, and the knob that attaches it to the telescope popped off a couple times, so I did have to hot glue it. But the tripod mount is a standard size, so it should easily mount to any tripod you might already have. And at only 10 ounces and only about 7 inches long it’s light enough ad small enough to take anywhere. It’s also waterproof, so inclement weather is not going to be an issue.
I didn’t know how much I was missing out on nature watching watching things from afar. Tall trees and far-off hills are no longer so tall or far so off. And when it comes to optics, Ohuhu nails it every time. This Monocular 12X Telescope is top shelf, and Hubby and I are loving it. It’s built to last, and because Ohuhu stands behind their products, you know you can count on them should anything go wrong.

My husband, bless his heart, is kind of a watch junkie. With only one wrist and many watches, it means he has to cycle through them, and store some others for special occasions. Until very recently the SOP was to wrap the ones not worn in a microfiber cloth and store them in a drawer. Which, I’m told, beats taking them in and out of their original boxes. When Ohuhu offered me their 12-Slot “Leather” Watch Box, it seemed like a match made in heaven.

Solidly constructed out of wood and then lined in a sumptuous beige felt, it sports a glass top and contrast-stiched outside, with a black polyurethane “leather” and white stitches. The hinged top latches at the front with a high-polished chrome latch as well. Suitable for any desktop, counter, dresser or nightstand, it looks pretty high-end but will only set you back $17.99. And, when I think about the cost of some of Hubby’s watches, under $20 to protect them seems like a pittance. The cushions are decent enough, and we’ve found that, for the few not in use, it’s a perfect place to store his wedding bands (Both the everyday beater and the nice one for when we go out!). Considering that’s the extent of Hubby’s “jewelry”, this could just as easily be called his jewelry case too, if he’d let me. Hubby has watches that range in size from 38mm all the way up to 48mm, and they all fit without a hitch. We;;, one small one: His Sector 600 has a protruding crown guard, which means he can’t store it on the extreme right of the box, but not many watches have those, and a regular crown is no issue whatsoever.

Sometimes it’s easy to overlook how quickly something like a watch can get damaged. Especially those with automatic movements. One drop could spell disaster, and cost hundreds of dollars to fix properly, if at all. When I think of Hubby’s nice watches wrapped in a simple cloth, I shudder to think that he ever stored them in such a fashion. I would spend twice as much to keep them stored safely, but thanks to Ohuhu, I don’t have to. and because it’s an Ohuhu product, you know it’s quality and made to last.

I’ve been trying to “finish” my landscaping for the last, oh, lets say decade or so, and while some areas are just the way I want them, others seem to be a continual “work in progress”. Like in the area of lighting. While the old standard of running a bunch of low-voltage line everywhere was fine in places, how many of us have electrical outlets 40 feet from the house?! And the longer you run low-voltage line, the dimmer the farthest lights get. Solar lights seemed to be my savior, but until recently they were very utilitarian, lacked any real flair, and didn’t stay lit long. And they were expensive. Then Ohuhu came in to save the day again with their 8-Pack of Solar Landscape Lighting, all for only $27.99? Sounds too good to be true!

This 8-Pack of Solar Lights is a simple and affordable way to provide accent lighting all around your yard, your pathways, your garden, and even your driveway, all without ever having to worry about whether the cord will reach an electrical outlet. They’re weather resistant, so your sprinklers should give them no issues. The units are made entirely of plastic, and the stakes aren’t the strongest, so don’t try putting them in any particularly hard ground. They have a single, bright white (almost blue) LED that shines bright enough to give a decent halo of light around them. Ohuhu says they’re good for up to 8 hours on a full charge. And while the looked nice and initially lit well and stayed lit throughout most of the night, I found as time went on that the lights dimmed quicker and quicker, and went out earlier and earlier. Hubby broke them down and might have come up with a reason why: The rechargeable battery used to power the units is a paltry 600 mAh nickel-metal hydride AA cell. That’s a really low powered battery, and despite Ohuhu’s claims of “dusk ’til dawn” capabilities, there’s very little chance of that being possible with so small a battery. But, placed in a full-sun area, you are looking at a good 4-6 hours of really attractive light, anywhere you want to place it!
So while I think there’s some room for improvement, this last generation of solar lighting has really changed my tune as to it’s viability and usefulness around the house and yard. Ohuhu continues to surprise me with the quality of product you get for the money, and the Ohuhu 8-Pack of Solar Landscape Lighting is no exception! And Ohuhu’s
30-day Money Back Guarantee & Full 12-month Replacement Warranty means there’s really nothing to lose!

From time to time I get offered products that are off the beaten path for this blog, and this one is pretty far to the right, but seemed like something Hubby would appreciate, so I said yes to the Ohuhu Red or Green Reflex Sight. I’m glad I did.

See, sometimes, the big boy toys are pretty expensive. Sometimes, too, you want more than bare bones on them, and when it comes to optics for weapons, there’s a big, huge world out there and it’s sometimes difficult to decide what you want. This Ohuhu Reflex Sight is a great beginner’s optic for those looking to dip their toes into more advances sights than the traditional iron sights or 3-dot configuration. For starters, Hubby had a bit of a time zeroing it in, because you need Allen wrench to do it, and a small one to boot. In the past, he’s only ever used dials. The choice of reticles is nice, as you get to choose between 4 dots and 4 patterns in either red or green. It’s a tubeless 33mm reflex lens, and while it’s bright enough indoors, you can sometimes lose the green reticle outside in the bright daylight. There’s separate windage and elevation adjustments, which as I stated use an Allen wrench, and a slightly larger allen wrench for mounting to a standard picatinny rail. It mounted rather securely at first, but did work it’s way a little loose after a while. But a touch of Loctite held it fast. It’s constructed solidly and comes with a cleaning cloth, and a lithium CR 2032 battery, and a pliable rubber cap for storage. And it’s priced perfectly for an entry-level optic.

Some people just want to dress up their weapons to look what I’ve heard described as “tacti-cool”, putting form before function. And they spend a bundle doing it. This Ohuhu Reflex Sight is a perfect meeting of affordability and function. It’s got some flaws, but it’s priced right and Ohuhu seems to stand behind their products, and wants their customers to be satisfied. I was and so was Hubby, so I think you will be too if you keep your expectations realistic.

Ohuhu has a lot of products that spans many different categories, and I’ve been very fortunate to try out quite a few. And while I appreciate the high dollar, high value products they sometimes send, what I’ve found to be the most useful and clever are the ones that I might have overlooked or just passed right by, like this Ohuhu Hardwood belt hanger.

I don’t have a lot of belts, and I don’t own many scarves because it’s California, and even when it’s the dead of winter, we get 90 degree days. So on it’s surface you might find yourself wondering what possible use I could have for this belt hanger? It does do perfectly adequate for my few scarves as well as my and Hubby’s belt, even if his big, thick leather belt and big steel buckle made everything completely list to one side. Plus, this hanger tended to “grab” things that were hung in close proximity, and after a couple of days came out of the closet. Sitting there on the edge of the bed, looking all sad and unused. Well, when I saw it just lying there, it flashed through my head: Laundry hanger!!! See, I have quite a few unmentionables that need air drying. And lining all the door jambs in our house with hangers to hang my lingerie is just gauche. But this little guy? Boom, 12 bras or undies hung perfectly spaced out, with no sharp edges to snag things, and rust-resistant rounded polished hooks ready to hang under the nearest ceiling vent. What sometimes took me days had my stuff dry in hours. I’m in love! It’s also made of solid, strong hardwood, so it will last, and last, and last. The top hook will fit easily into any closet hanger, and even turns so that it can be hung just about anywhere!

Look, maybe this isn’t what the Ohuhu Hardwood Belt Hanger was intended for. Maybe my habit of re-purposing things had finally gone around the bend. I don’t care, because I have this dream of a laundry hanger that makes air drying my delicates a breeze, and I regret nothing. I love my Ohuhu Hardwood Belt Hanger, and I think you’d be surprised just how useful a thing it can be for you too!

Summer has come and summer has gone, and fall has come back around again. With it comes brisk nights, chilled mornings, and best of all, warm drinks, cozy blankets and some of the best comfort foods we look forward to all year long. Mood lights become a must as the sun dims much, much sooner and nothing sets a mood quite like flickering candles. So when I got the chance to give some Real Wax Flameless Candles from Ohuhu a try, I thought to myself “Now that’s what I call timing”.

Ohuhu makes so many great products for the home, for the garden, and so much more, but these Real Wax Flameless Candles are just something I’d never thought existed. So many times I’d wondered if I could hollow out a real candle and drop one of those nifty little flameless candles in it so it’d last as long as I wanted. And the geniuses at Ohuhu must’ve thought the same thing, because you have the best of both a real candle, and a flameless candle all in one. But Ohuhu went a step further and added a remote control, so you can set your moods from across the room without having to get out from under the blanket. I was sold there, but then Ohuhu turned it up to 11 and made sure they changed colors too. Amazing. With so much going on it was such a shame when I noticed after much fiddling with the candles and remote that there’s no setting for a simple, realistic yellow or orange “flame” color. And that’s such a shame because I wanted to absolutely love these, and did until they forgot to add a simple, natural flame color. Another pet peeve is that each candle takes 3 AAA batteries, and they included none. Talk about party foul!

Taken as a whole, I like these candles, but I don’t love them like I wanted to. There’s a whole lot to like and if you don’t mind the lack of a real “flame” color, you may indeed love these yourself. And I need to mention the absolutely gorgeous little details included in what could have been a drab, ho-hum package. Instead of being wrapped in simple plastic of cellophane, Ohuhu wrapped each of their 3″ Color-Changing Real Wax Flameless Candles with a lovely little silver bow. Perfect for gift giving or just a tasteful and attractive storage option.
