Smiley360: Accuflora ProBiotic Supplement Review #Accuflora

IMAG2132

I have tried several brands of ProBiotics and PreBiotics that I can count. I know they aid with digestive health and even though I do not suffer from regular problems, there are days that I don’t eat how I would want to and wanted something natural to correct what I was missing. I eat Greek yogurt on a daily basis in the morning and sometimes even add a little Coconut or Almond milk to my fruit, nut, seeds and granola bowl. Then comes the days where I am rushing and grab a bagel……not the best choice even if I tell myself Almond Butter is better than butter.

IMAG2134

Accuflora, is that filler I need when I don’t behave or noticed my Husband left literally one small spoonful of yogurt, so he would not be the one that had the last bite! Love that 🙂 Accuflora, has five types of active cultures that you find in yogurt but convinently in one pill-

Active Probiotic Blend:

  • Lactobacillus Acidophilus
  • Lactobacillus Rhamnosus
  • Bifidobacterium Bifidum
  • Lactobacillus Salivarius
  • Streptococcus Thermophilus

Each pill has a lasting or what I call “working” effect of 12 hours and you can take up to 2 pills a day, which means one bottle lasts 30 days. Pretty simple!

IMAG2137

Retail Price Point: $6.99 via Amazon was the cheapest price I could locate. Then came Target at the non-sale price of $9.49, which with the coupon link below of $1.00 off makes it $8.49 and don’t forget to make your savings stretch by using the RedCard for 5% more off.

Results:
I have had problems with these supplements in over-working my system and this is why I take them more as a reboot versus a daily dose. I eat well and have a balanced diet, plus I make sure to make my protein and calories count. A clean diet means that you only need to clean so much via supplements (in my case), so this is perfect for my bagel or only had time for an energy bar days. I get zero cramping and bloating like I would with other Probiotics and this is where I learned that if you eat yogurt with the aforementioned ingredients, supplementing can have adverse effects (too much of a good thing). Accuflora, also was perfect for taking after doing a round of antibiotics where they tend to kill everything, even the good bacteria. I found many instances where this filled that void and I don’t have to commit to taking it everyday and can control the intake by 12 hour intervals, as the dosage is nicely divided. I like pills that work with how I eat and diet, so Accuflora is that Probiotic pill I have been looking for.

Smiley360: 5 Hour Energy Drink in Pink Lemonade #5HourGoesPink #Review

IMAG1723

I got an offer from Smiley360 recently. It was for a 5-Hour Energy shot. Um…yes please! Are you kidding me? This time of year? I’m dragging my tired little butt around trying to put things together for the holidays, for the home, for hubby, for the dog. Oh yeah, and if I have a spare second or two, a moment for myself. I quick pick me up, and pink lemonade flavored to boot? My only complaint at the time was I only got two.

IMAG1724

Now, I’ve tried 5-Hour Energy before. Let’s just say I wasn’t their biggest cheerleader. The flavor was…not great. Very bitter, hard to swallow. In fact, I couldn’t. Neither could hubby. We haven’t been back to it since. I had high hopes for the new push and new flavor. And while it was better, it was also still bitter, but not to the point of being unable to finish it. So it’s flavor grade is a solid “B”.

IMAG1722

As for the most important feature, the energy boost. With 200 mg of caffeine, as well as nearly 1700 mgs of other proprietary energy ingredients, and 540 mgs of B vitamins, you’d think it could send someone up the walls and hanging off the ceiling. However, that wasn’t the case for me. Maybe my tolerances are higher, maybe I just was expecting to have some jitters or shakes. Neither was the case, and if anything I was disappointed in not having that “superman” feeling where I flit around the house getting everything accomplished like The Flash. Oh well.

IMAG1725

5-Hour Energy also partnered with Living Beyond Breast Cancer to donate 5 cents from every bottle sold to LBBC, a non-profit organization dedicated to connecting people with trusted breast cancer information and community support. Just look for the bottle with the pink ribbon to help out, with a minimum guaranteed donation of $200,000. Not too shabby.

Smiley360: Tazo Chai Teas in Classic Chai, Chocolate Chai and Vanilla Caramel #Review #SweetMeetsSpicy

IMAG1727

Tazo is a company I am very familiar with and already love! Not a product have I tried that I did not like, so when Smiley offered the Tazo Chai campaign…..well I was overjoyed!

Tazo makes several Chai products that come in filter-bags for seeping/brewing or in liquid (carton) concentrate form, which is perfect for cold drinks. I was able to test out their three latest flavors that are perfect for the colder weather:

  • Classic Chai-
Made with a blend of black tea, cardamom, a touch of black pepper, cinnamon and ginger
  • Chocolate Latte Chai
Made with black tea, cardamom, black pepper, cinnamon, ginger, and cocoa powder
  • Vanilla Caramel Chai
Made with black tea, cardamom, black pepper, cinnamon, ginger, vanilla extract, and caramel (natural flavor)
  • There are 12 Varieties to choose from if the ones above do not tempt you. You even have Organic options with the Chai Organic Latte concentrate to Pumpkin Spice to satisfy the seasonal palette. There are also decaffeinated varieties to choose from.

IMAG1728

My first and favorite of the trio was the Vanilla Caramel Chai. You get the nice real Vanilla flavor, which then leads off to almost butter toffee notes, brought on by the caramel. The cup is great with or without milk. The milk tends to intensify the vanilla by giving it warmer notes that smooth out. I used honey to give it a touch of sweetness and depending on what honey I used, I was able to change the flavor just a bit.

Next on my list, is the Chocolate Latte Chai. This one makes you love those peppery chocolate flavors. They play so well together and the pepper really enriches the cocoa experience. With milk and I used almond, I was able to bring in a nutty taste and make a light caloric cup of tea that made me not miss one bit a cup of hot cocoa. If you are seeking an alternative, this is the flavor for you!

Last but not least, the Classic Chai. This is the flavor that puts you at the beginning of the Chai experience and I like that because I can make it my own. I added a Orange Blossom honey with a squeeze from a fresh Valencia orange slice, and this cup became my warm citrus-y journey. The second time I had a cup, I went the old fashion way with a touch of milk and a little bit of vanilla sugar and it did not taste like the previous one. Make your own flavor is what I call this selection. Very versatile and always delivers that premium experience Tazo products are known for.

  • Retail Price:$3.49 usually but $3.00 when found on sale at Target.  I was able to pick up a box of the Vanilla Caramel Chai (20 count) for the same price as the concentrate. Want to save? Check-out my twitter feed or

Smiley: ChapStick Hydration Lock Moisture and Renew #Review #PutYourLipsFirst

IMAG1719

With the weather being in that temperamental mood of swinging between Summer like temperatures to then wanna-be Fall, my skin and lips are also throwing a tantrum! The only thing that has been staying true is that it gets chilly in the evening and my lips seem to not get enough moisture. I even started drinking more water and the problem is not dehydration.  We worry so much about our skin’s health and I know with me, my mouth moves all day with all the chattering I do. Even though my lips are on my face, I dedicate more time to renewing the skin on my face and concentrate on my eye area, but totally forget the lips!

IMAG1720

Chapstick has gone beyond just having formulas where you just pick the flavor you like. They have transformed their formulas and provide balms that fit everyone’s lip needs. I was able to try out one of their latest formulas from a line that has two dual ended applicators:

  • Chapstick Hydration Lock Moisture & Renew
  • Chapstick Lock Day & Night

The Chapstick Hydration Lock Moisture and Renew, is geared towards individuals that want anti-aging ingredients to improve their lips appearance and overall health. Packed with CoQ10 and Hyaluronic Spheres on the “Renew” end, this provides supple lips that appear smoother and feel heavenly, plus deliver an antioxidant punch (but in a good way)! The “Moisture” end provides Shea and Mango butters that aid in conditioning the skin and help it hold-in moisture, so they remain protected. The nice part is that Chapstick’s new balms are clinically proven to give you healthier look lips.

Chapstick’s Lock Day & Night is the stick that provides you with SPF12 for “Day” time protection and moisturizing butters. The “PM/Night” formula is the one that provides antioxidants, natural butters and Tamanu oil to replenish lips. Talk about 24 hours protection in just one tube. Easy to carry and fits perfectly in a purse, gym bag, to even your pocket.  So no excuses in not having kissable lips!

IMAG1717

Results: I was able to try the Hydration Lock Moisture and Renew variety from Chapstick for a few weeks to see what it could do for me. I love that as the day’s weather turns into night’s different climate, I am covered and protected by just one item that I can carry anywhere. I noticed on the first day when I tried the “Renew” formula, I woke up with smoother lips. My lipstick/gloss glided on but I made sure to apply one light coat of the “Moisture” formula to continue with the protection. Think of it as a base coat/primer. I did not have to exfoliate twice a week like I usually do with a sugar scrub. That regimen was cut back to once a week and done more out of habit than need. I was happy with smoother lips and feel more confident and ready for when Winter swings around.

IMAG1716

Price Point: The hydration stick alone (not the dual end costs $2.99. The formula I tested that has dual ends and supplies you both with the Hydration Lock and Renew, can be found as low as $2.99 (Birchbox and Drugstore), CVS had the highest at $3.69, but I found a deal today for 2 for $5.00 at Walgreens. Walgreens had the lowest price-point if you buy two.

Coupon Savings: This sweetens the deal because you can add it to the above sales to save 0.50 cents on each stick.  Print the coupon here and start saving!

Smiley: Efferdent Fresh Guard Starter Kit #Review #Freshguard

IMAG0491

I was very fortunate to have had braces. Although you’d be hard pressed to get me to admit it at the time. The last thing anyone wants when they’re starting high school is a mouth full of metal. But now, with the benefit of age and understanding I know that my parents did me a huge favor (and laid out no small amount of money) to ensure I had a straight, beautiful smile. Part of maintaining that for all these years has been wearing my retainer from time to time. Yes, I still wear my retainer, much to my husband’s amusement, all these years later.

And anyone who has one knows that keeping them clean is paramount. The absolute LAST thing you want in your mouth is a gunky, nasty retainer. Toothpaste isn’t the same animal from when we were kids, so I can appreciate Smiley360’s offer to try Fresh Guard by Efferdent. Gentle on the appliances we put in our mouths, but rough on germs. It’s also good for mouth guards and removable braces. Since I don’t have those, just my retainer, I’ll be sticking to that.

What I really like from jump street is that you can just drop it in a glass or bowl, pour the crystals and let the fizz carry the junk away. Which is exactly what I did. I notice right away that despite the emphasis on “fresh”, there’s instead a very distinct chemical smell. The instructions say to wait for the water to turn clear, and you’re good to go, but the smell makes me want to rinse it right away, which I do. And I’m glad I did, because there’s still a slight “off” taste. I can’t imagine what it would have been right from the glass to my mouth. It doesn’t seem any cleaner than when I use a toothbrush and toothpaste, so I’m hard pressed to see the benefit from this product.

IMAG0490

My kit also comes with a Fresh Guard wipe, which I have to assume would be better suited to something without ridges or pointy edges like my retainer, because it kept getting caught. It didn’t do a very thorough job at all.

All things considered, I’m not a huge fan of this product, and don’t particularly see the need for the additional expense. If it did a better job than a toothbrush and toothpaste, I could see it but it doesn’t. It might also be seen as step backwards with the smell. Shame, really, because I wanted to like this product.
