Farm Fresh To You, is not my usual subscription box that is filled with beauty related products but in some ways this one is too. Think of this Organic box as a Veggie and Fruit delight filled with food that will definitely aid in not only wellness, health, but beautifying you from the inside out. Let’s not even overlook that I absolutely love vegetables and fruit. I get excited and I’m one of those people that says, “look at that ___________, it’s gorgeous and I then start filling a produce bag like it’s going to sell out that second. I try to purchase Organic when possible, as long as the produce looks good, is not overly priced and easy accessible. I hunt everywhere and most times lose track of how big the fridge is when I’m stuffing Lacinato Kale bundles in the dairy case. I’m not a juicer and truly just love how vegetables and fruit taste like. I will purchase the unknown produce item, google it in the car, and then have plans for what I’m going to make by the time I get home. I’m a believer of not, “knocking it until you try it”, and this is when I was so fortunate in being able to try Organic produce delivered to my home by Farm Fresh To You.
This is how the Service Works:
You have boxes that fit your cooking, eating to family size to choose from. Don’t like a vegetable or fruit offering? You simply can exchange the product for another by using the allotment (amount you are spending on the box of your choice) to replace that selection. Simple! Some items are harvested in limited numbers, so I did find a few items I could not add more of but sharing is something I do well and I like that customization is available and user friendly when ordering.
You can order from the Boxes below and this is with delivery included pricing:
- Mixed Fruit & Veggie Boxes– that range from $26 for the Small (1-2 people) to the Monster Box (6+ people) for $58.00
- Traditional CSA Boxes– is for produce that only comes from their own farm and neighboring partner farms. You can pick a Regular Box (2-4 people) for $33 or the More Box (4-6 people) for $46.00
- No Cooking Boxes– Options that fit the busy person and have items that are easily made or quick to grab and eat while on the go. A Small Box (1-2 people) is $26 and you have Regular Box (2-4 people) for $33 and the More Box for (4-6 people) for $46.00
- Fruit Only– 100% fruit and you have a Small for $26, Regular for $33 and More for $46.00
- Veggie Only Boxes– If you are Pro-Veggies 100%, you can opt for this selection. This one has two choices, the Regular Box (2-4 people) and the More (4-6 people) for $46.00
- Organic Snack Pack– Like I said, no excuses and this service gives you the option for healthier and better tasting packs that range from $35 for the Mini and serves 5 office people, to the Large for $110 and serves 30 people.
Each area has a delivery day, so it depends which zone you fall in on what day of the week they deliver. Mine was Friday but the best part, they deliver between the hours of 8PM on Thursday and 8AM on Friday. Yup, you wake up to surprises and what a great way to end a week. You can even prep meals on the weekend to eat better and tastier next week. You can also add other items like fresh eggs, local honeys to nuts and other treats.
What did I Order:
Okay, I have to start by saying that it’s just my Husband and I (and a dog) and we eat fresh as much as possible. I rarely open a can in this house and it’s usually to do a shortcut meal when using beans or roasted tomatoes. I love to cook and I love to change my weekly meals, so eating fresh fits us nicely and it’s just hard to get off it once you eat everything with texture and flavors intact. With that said, I went for the Monster Box from the Mixed and Veggie selection. I then again have one of those moments where the pictures get the best of me and I added more to my box. I ended up with a total of $59.35 and the box retails for $58, but I got what I wanted. I did change my selection like lowering the count of Gala apples from 10 to zero and adding Honeycrisp, plus changing items so I could add Purple Bell Peppers and so on.

When it Arrived:
I am not ashamed but I pretended I was catching up on my DVR when I was really just stalking my door. Farm Fresh To You delivered at 1:16 AM and not even a dog barked. The delivery person kindly placed two brown colored boxes by our gate and they were cold to the touch. The employees wear a bright colored vest and even the white truck’s engine was in “shhhhh mode”. If it was not for my “ninja at midnight” ways, I would have heard zilch.
My box was outside for 3 minutes. Hey, I had to first announce, “it’s here….it’s here, I’m not waiting for you (to my half asleep Husband) and I’m getting them”. It took energy and one minute longer to find my sandals because I was not stepping outside in my slipper socks 🙂
- Box #1- Bartlett Pears, Ruby Crescent Potatoes, Honeycrisp Apples, Nantes Carrots, Broccoli, Assorted Lettuce, Red Pomegranate, Gypsy Peppers, Black Grapes, and Hass Avocado

- Box #2- Valencia Oranges, D’ Anjou Pears, Baby Bok Choy, Celery, Lacinato Kale, Asian Pear, Mixed Medley of Cherry Tomatoes, Purple Bell Peppers, and Zucchini

The four items I was eager to use from the boxes were the Medley of Cherry tomatoes, the Purple Bell Peppers, the Gypsy Peppers and those adorable Ruby Crescent potatoes.

Rustic cooking for us is cooking with what we have at hand and what comes to mind. Simplicity at its best and you measure ingredients by your mood and cravings, no rules and let the flavors shine! It’s about enjoying each ingredient and not drowning it out.

I decided to make a nice rustic dish of peppers, onions, tomatoes and sausages. I used an Organic Chicken based sausage that was made with Sweet Basil and Roasted Garlic. The sausage is pre-cooked but frozen. I cut the larger potatoes in half and left the smaller ones as-is. Added roughly chopped Green and Red Bell peppers, white onion, Italian Cubanelle Pepper and few garlic cloves. I tossed everything with Olive Oil, salted, added dry tarragon, blacked cracked pepper, and dry lavender. I cooked covered on the roasting setting (425 degrees) for 20 minutes. This is to allow the potatoes to get a head start cooking and my frozen sausage to defrost.

After 20 minutes have lapsed, simply add the softer and more delicate peppers, like the Gypsy and Purple ones, plus the tomatoes and toss with melted butter and parsley. Remove the defrosted sausages. The butter and veggie mix gets added and mixed to the previous semi-cooked contents. You toss and cook uncovered for 5 minutes. Then add the sausages back. I left the 2 chicken based ones whole and then sliced a (pre-cooked) pork Italian one to give the dish that added flavor. Cook another 25 to 30 minutes uncovered, or until potatoes are tender. Two minutes before taking the dish out, I tossed the fresh Rosemary t0 give the dish a slight hint of flavor and aroma from the herb.

I then served the dish with a little cheese on top and a nice crusty loaf of bread.
This code gives you $15 off your first box!

We always enjoy subscription boxes because they introduce us to new brands and even new foods. Like with gift baskets, I find most subscription boxes have more down time where maybe 1 to 2 items are fabulous and the others are duds. You then have companies, which add so much little filler that getting a real sized item is impossible.
Not with Heck That’s Hot!
I love spice and can tolerate heat very well. My only caveat is that the heat better bring some flavor and make the food worthy of eating. Empty calories to me, also means eating something that is not great but you are eating it to make whatever you spent on it not be wasted. I can state that Heck That’s Hot provided a box filled with items that were full sized and the individual size (i.e. one serving) products were included in multiples. Yup, you are not trying to share a one-bite chocolate piece between a family of four! Some of the products I was familiar with when it came to the manufactures like Lindt chocolates. I also liked that there was care in packaging. The parcel was double boxed and the items were safely packed. Even the chips were not a mess and that also means care is shown and you not only want that when a box is being sent to you, but it’s something I seek when I give boxes as a gift. Heck That’s Hot will not make you look poorly in that aspect either and I like that they take pride and care in how they handle products. Hey, I got chocolate sent that was not even melted and I reside in California!

Now, Let’s See what you Get:

The Better Chip in Jalapeno Flavor-
This a company I have seen and heard of but never actually tasted their products. The chips are made with real ingredients making them simple but so tasty. You see real jalapeno pieces and these are not green little flecks. I’m talking about diced jalapeno that is mixed into corn masa, which is used to make these delicious round shaped chips. They deliver heat and crunch, plus they are not a salty mess. What’s not to love?

Van Holten’s Hot Mama Pickle-
This item made us laugh when we saw it. It’s a large size pickle and not your everyday product, so I love that Heck That’s Hot included it. I love firecrackers and this pickle is like the big version of them. We refrigerated the pickle and I first took a slice to see how it tasted and it was a pleasing flavor, you get that pucker power from the brine but the spice is good tasting. The pickle also has a good texture and crunch! You get a heat that is zesty but not over the top. I made a spread for burgers using the pickle (diced). Very simple with Mayo, Chipotle powder, and the Hot Mama Pickle. I even have 1/2 left to enjoy as-is or in another recipe. I’m thinking this one would wake up any tater’ salad.

Lindt Chocolate Squares in Chili Flavor-
Okay, I have had these little squares in what I thought was every flavor…..I was wrong. The base is dark chocolate and chili extract. I have had spiced hot chocolate drinks and even Mexican chocolates but these are nothing like that. The chocolate used is velvety smooth and because it’s dark, it has sharp notes but the chili pepper is not in flake form or anything grainy within the square itself. Just smoothness and the spice is almost pepper (as in peppercorn) and it just intensifies the cocoa notes. That is all. It’s sort of like a play of salt on chocolate and what that does to your taste buds. I really enjoyed it and will seek this chocolate out due to the intense flavor it delivered!
I always look at boxes and their worth is also measured by what I can make with them and this item along with the following two, I was able to create a meal and still have left-overs. That is what makes a subscription box worth it to me and Heck That’s Hot provided quality products that go beyond just a few dips with a chip, put jar in the fridge to just throw it out 2 weeks later. We actually enjoyed cooking with what was provided in the box!

Julia’s Sassy Dip Mix in Chipotle Seasoning-
It’s a dip, a mix to even a spice packet. The seasonings provide a base that can be used in sauces, combined with meats to even making spreads. This allows me to use the product more than once and that is more bang for your buck! I found blue corn taco shells that just again was adding something new to the everyday rotation. We have had blue corn chips but never taco shells, and it’s hard finding something not enhanced with dyes, so you bet I grabbed them when it was just simple blue corn. I had fresh ground chicken and beef in the fridge, so I made Tacos using Julia’s Sassy Dip mix. I tasted the seasoning and it was a little sweeter than I desired, so I just added more chipotle flakes and powder. Some red Anaheim Chilies, onion and you simply brown each meat in a separate pan. That simple. I love how easy it was to make!

Habanero Pepper Salsa From Hell in Beyond Hot-
I prepared myself and I love Habanero to the point I use the actual pepper to make a Habanero Rice. Everyone thinks the orange little pepper is just an innocent sweet pepper and then it just hits you. Habaneros have great flavor and are very versatile when cooking. I got tired (bored really) of jalapenos that tasted so mild anymore because it’s hard to find spicy jalapenos. We opened the jar and it smelled spicy, like it kicked my nostrils with the heat but once the jar was opened for over a minute, the intensity in smell went away. We tasted and the base is very tomato-y like sort of the notes you get from a jar of canned plum tomatoes and paste. Then comes the vinegar and then the slight heat. The salsa has flavor but not intense in Habanero, so it’s workable. I worked it into some rice and it was perfection because my Husband did feel the vinegar was more intense than the heat. A 1/4 cup of the salsa I added to the water, after frying the rice with veggies and chilies and 22 minutes later…..Spanish rice that has some heat but pairs perfectly and does not overpower the dish.

Bravado Spice Co. Ghost Pepper and Blueberry Hot Sauce-
I know…..what! I thought the same when I saw this sauce but I’m always open to tasting new foods. I checked out the ingredients and you have Blueberry, Raspberry, Vinegar, the Ghost Pepper and then just salt and pepper. That is all! I start thinking how people mix pineapple with pork, and then add heat via chilies. I make and eat that, so why not give this a chance? First I tried the sauce on a chip and it’s hotter than the Habanero Salsa above. I love Ghost Pepper but feel the poor pepper is misused and mostly there for name than flavor. The Bravado Spice Co., did not leave the Ghost Pepper behind and did it justice by adding flavor. Think of the fruit as base, there for texture and to control the bitter notes peppers to even vinegar can give. It off-sets the heat just a bit and keeps everything in check. This sauce would be great to marinate shrimps with, like a ceviche. Great for a dressing in a Mexi-style salad but I think it shines best with lighter meats like poultry and fish. I’m thinking Tilapia tacos next time and I may even crust them with blue corn by just grinding the taco shells that came broken in the box (there is always 1 or 2 that never make it whole). Great sauce and I am open to trying that Pineapple one on a smoked pork butt sandwich. I added some to our chicken tacos this time!

Ass Kickin’ Habanero Popcorn-
Yee-haw! I don’t usually eat popcorn from a microwave bag but that donkey is mocking me. I have not popped this baby yet but will be this weekend. It’s movie night, I got a free RedBox code, so I’m set. It’s even raining in California, so things could not be better. It’s Habanero and it takes the boring out of poppy corn any day.
Retail Price Point: They have two box sizes to choose from with the lowest $20 and then a larger $30 sized box. Shipping is always free, so you pay on a monthly basis the price above and that is all. You also have the freedom to cancel your subscription, so Heck That’s Hot is not your gimmicky company that has hidden charges or trying to bog you down with long term commitments.
Verdict:
Do I need one? I know I always add something here to see where I land on purchasing an item but this is a must try. Try a month, see what comes and see what you make. That is how I think of boxes of this kind work and why some of us love them and others don’t. I can say that there is enough in a box that makes the price point fair and then you think of weight and shipping, but wait that is included into the Heck That’s Hot price point. That is where I see the worth because it gets delivered to your home and the items are full sized and the ones that are portion sized is enough to share. No one gets left out, so you shouldn’t either and check-out a company that is bringing something different to the table.

I can easily state that from all the subscription boxes that are food related…..this one is the most packed!
Urthbox is a company which fills their subscription boxes with healthy, not-your-average treats and snacks. Stocking their box with only non-GMO foods makes this company stand out above all the rest. They also have boxes that fit every dietary need from vegan, gluten-free and even “diet” options. Munching diet related products is a great way to know what works, what you like to even what you want to continue purchasing. Urthbox also has boxes to fit every budget starting from $19 (7-10 items), medium sized box for $29 (12-15 products), to the large box that makes you a super happy snacker at $49 (20-24 items). I received the “Part-Time Snacker” box in size medium. I received 12 products from different manufacturers but the quantity was larger because some products came in counts of 2 or even 3. I liked that they count your products by individual kinds versus counting that they added 2 items of one product and using that towards the full count. Very fair and generous of UrthBox. I also want to add that shipping is free, so the above price points are with shipping included.
Let’s get started because I have so much to cover….I will be using the 1 to 5 point system where 5 is superb in taste/flavor and texture, and where 1 is pretty much saying don’t put it in your mouth 🙂

- Snap Pea Crisps (One .75 ounce package): I have seen these being sampled at Costco but never actually stood in line to try one. It’s pretty much Green Peas that are lightly salted and baked. A healthier way to snack because you get less fat than potato chips but this treat also is a good source of fiber. I love peas of any kind so I am biased on this one. I did like the texture but was not super fond of the aftertaste. It was not pleasant and left my mouth lacking moisture but now I know to pass versus buying on these. I give them a 2

- Hemp Hearts (Two 0.5 ounce packages): I have tested these before and enjoy them very much. You can read my full detailed review here- http://wp.me/p2B5Rd-fP and I give these a 5

- Viana Mild Jumbo Veggie Snack Sausage (Two 1.76 ounce packages): I received the Traditional German Smokehouse variety and have never tasted a non-meat sausage. I first loved how it smelled because that is my first test before taking a bite. The smell was spicy and very inviting. I take a bite and must say that flavor is not missing and you get a nice smoky taste with a wonderful blend of spices. Being a meat-eater, I can say if you told me it was turkey or chicken based….I would be none the wiser. It’s organic and you get a generous 13 grams of soy based protein with only 130 calories. It’s up there with a cup of yogurt and only 360 mg of sodium and 2 grams of sugar. It fills you up in a more satisfying way and I would purchase this item again. I give this product a 4

- Salba Chia Boost (Two 0.5 ounce packages): Advertised as not your usual chia seed and something I would have overlooked because I have had bad chia seeds. I did not think qualities changed so drastically and because I sorted on value when first buying them, I first purchased a bag of great quality seeds. I then go and repurchase the chia seeds but decided to pick-up a cheaper brand……big mistake. There was such an off taste that eating them in a wet or dry method did not save me. I ended up discarding them so there went my savings turning into waste. I can say that Salba does have a premium product and I also enjoyed that these come in ground (powder) form, something that was new to me. I mix it with my flax seeds and they are a treat with a nutritional punch. I give this item a 5

- Kelapo Extra Virgin Coconut oil (One 0.5 ounce package): The Coconut oil is cold pressed and unrefined. Love that it’s Fair Trade certified and Organic. I have become a fan of the coconut and it’s oil, to the point I cook with it and even purchase a butter and coconut oil spread that makes great grilled cheese sandwiches, even to just being used on bread. The Kelapo package states to warm in hands, tear and squeeze. Like many cooking oils, not all are equal and I put Kelapo in the higher grade when it comes to standards, texture and flavor. This is why I love these subscription boxes…..I became a fan of a new brand and give this oil a 5

- Shelton’s Smoked Snack Stick (One 1.0 ounce package): The sausage stick came in jalapeno flavor and is turkey based. Shelton’s products use turkey that is antibiotic free and the ingredient list was rather short. You have the turkey, jalapeno peppers, water, salt, encapsulated lactic acid, celery juice, red pepper, black pepper, granulated garlic, coriander and the blend is stuffed in a beef collagen casing Pretty simple and as natural as you can get when it comes to the sausage world. The product has a nice texture and spice content. You pick up the flavor of the peppers and I loved that it was not greasy or fatty like other sausages of this kind. I give this product a 4

- Neo Water (One 16.9 ounce bottle): Neo is a “Superwater” and it’s super-ness comes with the triple the benefits that come with this drink. You get water and added minerals for flavor, but also alkaline, has electrolytes and antioxidants. The water has a crisp and refreshing flavor and it’s definitely noticed when drinking. It tastes cleaner and I like the added benefits. I give this bottle a 5

- Spatone Pur Absorb Iron (3 0.67 fluid ounce packages): Okay, I never thought of drinking iron and I’m the type that usually tries to get mine from vegetables and meat. You get 5 mg of iron per package and the contents are listed as iron-rich natural spring water. Now, I’m more curious and my first thought was, “please don’t taste like iron”. I taste it as-is and I will say the package suggests adding it to a fruit based juice or just more water. It does not smell strong but my nose must be stuffy because the taste was very unpleasant. Strong notes of metal and almost a fishy finish. I drank plain water trying to wash the unpleasant taste and I would think I was free from it for it to just creep back. The very unfavorable notes were stuck in the back of my teeth and in my throat, it took several sips to just diliute it enough so it would not give me a “sicky-feeling”. Again, why would someone want to drink their iron like this is something I thought before tasting and was reinforced after tasting. I give this product a 1 but wishing my scale had a 0

- Licious Organics Honey Cookies (One 1 ounce cookie): Let’s move on from the iron disaster and onto cookies…much nicer. I received the cranberry almond variety and this is an unbaked cookie. You have finely crushed oats, coconut, almonds and raw honey, plus cranberries and sunflower seeds. You also have sunflower oil, Utah pink salt, cinnamon, vanilla and lemon juice. The cookie is also wheat free and 130 calories per small cookie. I can say it tastes unbaked and even though dates are not mentioned, the pulverized texture makes you think of them of date bars. This cookie saved me from the iron so I am grateful! The texture and puck shaped cookie makes it……well un-cookie like. This is more like a nutrition bar shaped like a disc but when I looked at the protein and nutrition facts, I can see why it’s called a cookie. Not bad if you have it right there but would not crave it or seek it out. I give the faux cookie a 2

- Beanfield’s Bean & Rice Chips (One 1.5 ounce bag): I was fortunate to review the entire selection offered by the Beanfield’s company and today I still purchase and eat their chips. I received the pico de gallo flavor and please read my detailed review here-http://wp.me/p2B5Rd-n2 . You will enjoy these very flavorful chips and I give this tasty chip a 5

- Eco-Dent Oral Care (3 packets): This is a company that makes natural based products for oral care. I received 1 packed of dental gum, 1 packet of the daily rinse and 1 packet of tooth powder that substitutes as toothpaste. Eco-Dent has a full line of dental hygiene products to fulfill your dental needs. The products tasted actually rather nice and they all had a mint-based flavor. The company included a 10% off coupon, plus a nice informative pamphlet about what makes their products premium and natural. They even stand behind their products with a money-back guarantee! I’m addicted to keeping my teeth white and while I did like these items, they just did not fit my individual needs. Yes, Baking Soda whitens but in my experience not as quick and fast as the products I currently use. These products perform as advertised and I give these products a 4

- CalNaturalle Svelte Organic Protein Shake (One 11 Fluid Ounce container): I skip on drinking protein shakes or smoothies and I must be honest on why, I’m lazy about washing my non-dishwasher safe shaker bottle. Yes, it comes down to that but it’s the honest truth. I then think of buying one that is dishwasher safe but no point if you need it the following day so I made a simple purchase complicate. Only me! In comes Svelte making sure to clear away my laziness by having their shake come in their own bottle. I just shake, open and drink. My flavor came in French vanilla and is sweetened with stevia. All organic products and the protein shake is soymilk based, giving you 11 grams of protein. It tasted pretty good for being a vanilla flavor and I drank half and then put it in the freezer for it to freeze just enough to make it taste like a shake….20 minutes top. Then I loved it so I give this product a 4

I have been interested in subscription box programs and have committed to some from Allure and especially their seasonal (quarterly) boxes. I wanted to try something on a smaller scale because that also means a smaller price point, which is welcoming on a monthly basis.
BeautyBox5 costs just $12 and that includes shipping. No surprises or fluctuating price points, just $12! I already love this part because it takes a bit of the fear away from committing. You also get added perks, like exclusive discounts from the brands featured, so if you like an item….you will be able to purchase it at a special price. That again falls in the “love-it” category!
So let’s get started in opening this already pretty on the outside turquoise colored box…..

Item #1: H2O+ Plus, Spa Sea Lotus Body Wash
I received a generous sample of 1 fluid ounces making this a nice deluxe sized bottle. The scent is Sea Spa Lotus and advertised as uni-sex. I quickly get my guinea pig (hubby) and ask him to test it out with me because very few products come to this house that I can share. The product’s fragrance is strong but welcoming because it has a pleasant scent. I washed my hands and notice as my Husband did, you are left with a nice scent but most of all, you do not lose your skin’s moisture like you do with hand soaps. Lathers up nicely and no film is felt on the body and hands. Definitely an item I would purchase and the standard bottle from H2O Plus, retails for just $17.00 for a 12.5 fluid ounce size.

Item #2: Nubar Cuticle & Nail Oil
Included is a green colored bottle measuring 0.25 ounces and you know nail and cuticle oils tend to go far. I am glad I received this because I am not happy with my current brand. I tend to dehydrate my nails by using acetone to remove those glitter based polishes and my cuticles…….well, I pretend I don’t have any so I do not have to address their issues 🙂 My denial is not working out. Now even sleeping with lotion drenched hands in cotton gloves is not fixing my dilemma overnight. I also have been informed that sleeping with a “mime” is not something my husband appreciates. At-home manicures are something I do not want to skimp on and especially after Santa brought me so many nail polishes, so I give Nubar a try. The elixir is advertised as having Jojoba oil, Vitamins A, D and E, so I am liking the natural approach already. My green colored bottle is labeled as Green Apple and you get a very faint smell of the fruit, but mostly the oil just smells clean/fresh. The brush is on the stiff side, which is smart because I can apply oil to target areas without wasting or making a mess. The oil is thin but stays where you apply, no dripping off or travelling anywhere. I treat both my cuticle and nails by just applying small amounts and I like that the brush does not even waste a drop when it travels from the bottle to my nail, and back and forth….sort of makes me wonder how easy this is and why I did not do it sooner. One of the reasons has been that my former oil was messy and left a residue on my actual nail. Nubar has more than just oils and gorgeous nail colors, so I definitely added them to the “buy list” because I’m loving this cuticle and nail oil! A 0.5 fluid ounce bottle retails for $10.00 and they have other scents like Vanilla, Passion Fruit & Grape.

Item #3: Swissco Bath and Body Shower Exfoliating Gloves
These are pink in color so I can’t be called a mime in the shower! The gloves are easy on the skin while making the job of removing dead skin cells a breeze. I love that you can target areas like the ankles easily and because my fingers curve better than my shower poof, I can exfoliate between my toes!!! They also stay on and I find I use less shower gel than I did with the mesh poof, so I waste less! I make sure to rinse them off well, hang them, and they are dry and ready to use the next time I shower. Swissco, has so many products from these gloves to beauty items so get ready to spend some time on their site. I also like the price point of just $5.00 for a pair.

Item #4: Jergens Daily Moisturizer
Jergens is a brand that we always have in the home from their body moisturizers to their specialty lines, like products for dry skin to target areas like hands and feet. Included was a 1 fluid ounce bottle of their Daily Moisture lotion for dry skin. My skin tends to not retain moisture in the colder months, so I go through lotion quicker and especially if it’s not formulated to fit my needs. I used the Jergens Daily Moisture and found the formula lasted very close to the 24-hour hydration they advertise. The moisturizer soothed my skin and calmed irritations well after shaving, plus it costs less than my current brand. The scent is light and undetectable once applied and this bottle is the perfect size to have by the sink. Jergens retails the lotion at $6.99 for a 21 fluid ounce bottle. Item #5: Epic Blend Hemp Coconut Lip Balm
I love coconut and I have owned hemp based products in the past but have never tried a lip balm. First, I must share that when I opened it, the balm smells like coconut but not the type they use like in car fresheners…..real coconut. I wanted to bite it! Now that I got that part out of my system and I applied the lip balm, it goes on silky and smooth and yes, I smell that coco-licious scent that is heavenly. I would say I miss the sun if I did not live in California! The product covers well but feels light, so you do not feel like your lips can’t breathe. It works and nicely moisturized my lips and when it wore down, my lips remained soft and replenished. Epic Blend labels this as an organic balm and that’s important with all the unhealthy stuff we tend to put on our lips for beauty’s sake. It’s nice to be able to treat my lips nice for once! It get’s better, petroleum free, non-GMO, gluten free and they are even kind to bunny rabbits…..not tested on animals. The product retails at a friendly price too of $3.99 for .15 ounces of balm.
