I am always looking to improve my health and nutrition needs. Being able to pop a gummy and then go about my day not only is easy, but sort of hard to forget. So many supplements in the market are made to fit the needs of both males and females, even though their needs differ greatly. Men require more caloric intake than a female would, so we already eat differently! Why take the same vitamins? I prefer always having to choose something that is tailored to me and will help when it comes to my hair’s appearance and nails…..something most guys don’t have at the forefront of their mind 🙂

Nutrition Now MultiVites not only come in gummy form and I’m not oppose to taking a pill, but why not take something that I can enjoy too. Their dietary supplement provides a blend of essential vitamins and minerals, that may help improve your hair, nails and skin’s health. You also get energy and metabolism support. What’s not to love? You add supporting bone health and great berry flavor combinations, that it makes having an excuse to not take your vitamins on a daily basis non-existent.

Retail Price Point: $7.39 via Amazon was the best price point I could locate, however the vitamins are carried at Vitamin Shoppe and other retailers like Walgreens too.
Ingredients: Glucose Syrup , Sucrose , Gelatin , Natural Flavors , ColorsPurple Carrot Juice Concentrate, Blueberry & Carrot Concentrate , Citric Acid , Lactic Acid , Fractionated Coconut Oil , Beeswax

Verdict:
I took the gummy vitamins by Nutrition Now on a daily basis for 25 days. The indications are for two gummy bites a day and one bottle comes with 70 gummy vitamins, so you get a little over a month’s worth. Nutrition Now made sure to give you a little cushion when it comes to those extra few days in case you forget when you need to buy more and I always appreciate that versus other companies that like to play the game of only giving you 28 days worth of product. Each gummy is only 15 calories and I can’t think of a better way in getting 30 calories a day packed with all your nutritional needs. I never had an upset stomach or an awful aftertaste. It was sort of too good to be true and I liked that if I had a sweet tooth that day, the gummy aided in nipping it…..so it was sort of like a treat. I did not notice significant changes because I do try to eat as clean as possible and at the same time get more than the amount of required vegetables and fruit in a day, but I did not break a nail! I always chip a nail at least once a month with all my crafts and baking, however I did not and you know it was not because I was careful. I think Nutrition Now is the better tasting when it comes to the gummy world of vitamins and for once it’s called berry flavor and actually contains blueberry. The product is gluten free and also free of dyes/artificial coloring because they use real ingredients like purple carrot juice as coloring. Easy to take and actually enjoy, so I would at least give Nutrition Now gummy vitamins a consideration because they are full of the “good stuff” and have none of the “bad stuff” that I usually have to look up to even know what is.

Hubby is no stranger to supplements. In fact, since I have known him, he’s always had a tub or bottle of something that he took in the morning, took before workouts, after workouts, before bed…You get the point. So when I got the chance to try out a pre-workout powder from Dalvia Wellness Labs L-Arginine Amino Acid Complex Powder (and when I say “I” tried it, I really mean HE tried it), I said “You betcha”.
Unfortunately it was all downhill from there. From here on out, you’ll be hearing from Hubby. Have at it, Hubby:
I’m no stranger to powder drink mixes for preworkout or post. I’ve tried many different flavors and blends from all the top companies. This is NOT one of those. While I could definitely choke it down, I saw no benefits from the endeavor. No added energy, no extra pump, no “umpf” to crank out that last set after a long day. I’m coming from a tried and true pre-workout mix named after a certain plastic explosive. It’s worked very well, for a long time. I took 2 weeks off my previous mix to reset my body, then tried this Dalvia L-Arginine powder for 2 more weeks. To say I was disappointed was an understatement. To start, my god was it sweet. While the label says it contains 0g of sugar, the ingredient list has an artificial sweetener, sucralose. Along with FD&C blue #1, red #40. I think they’re grossly overstating the “premium quality ingredients” on the Amazon order page. The taste is horrible to boot. A horrible, bitter aftertaste. Yuck. 12g per serving, and no scoop. When I let the company know the taste was off, their response was “Use less”. Alllllrighty then. The container also claims to be a “best selling amino acid formula”. Uh…based on what metric? I’ve never heard of this product before, and a quick google search only gives you one place to buy it: Amazon. There’s just so much wrong with this product. Look, I appreciate getting to try it for free. I wanted to like it. I add l-arginine to my pre-workout mix periodically. But there are no positives for this product. For me, it just didn’t work. Your $36 is better spent almost anywhere on just about any other reputable product.

Not for nothing, but my test for this product happened to coincide with routine blood work ordered by my doctor. I have never had issues with my thyroid, but my T3 levels were spiked, indicating hyperthyroidism. I had no other symptoms. After stopping this product, my T3 levels were back to normal. I can’t say for certain this product had anything to do with this irregular result, but why take chances? I would recommend avoiding this product.

Price Point: $36.00 for a 12.7 ounce container via Amazon and comes with a 100% Money Back Guarantee.

Ouch. The ref takes a point away! Hubby is not the kind to bury a company or product this way, but I will say that one wet fingertip was all I could bear, and I spit it out. It was terrible tasting, and turned my finger reddish. He’s got a much stronger stomach than I do. I couldn’t have done 2 weeks of that. I guess they can’t all be home runs.

My dog eats like a cat!
No, not cat food but loves things that cat’s like when it comes to foods and even toys. I still don’t walk into the Pet Store where she found joy with that feather toy made for cats because to see a 55 pound dog playing with it made her the only thing people were staring at when all I did was come in for treats.
She also loves Salmon, Sword Fish and shrimps to crab so when this dog food, which was sent as part of BzzAgent campaign said Tuna and Egg…..it was made for her. She loves it and I love that she is happy and no feathers were hurt 🙂 The food is reasonably priced for being a “no grain” variety and that makes me love it more. I find she goes potty less, less gas, and just more pure energy that sometimes I miss the dog that thinks everyday is a lounge day. She plays more and that is worth it in my book, when you see results!

How Much to feed when it comes to to a no-grain food:

Actual Results:
I witnessed our dog getting a shiner coat that is not oily like with other feeds that have added fats that deliver shine, but leaves your poor pet so greasy that you cringe petting them. Our dog did get a slight fishy breath after eating her meal but not so bad and it did lessen as time passes. I noticed the energy level went up and we actually had to slow her down in these hot Summer days we have been experiencing but that usually means a dip in the pool for her. No stomach problems and eating grass is a thing she does not engage in as often as before, so I think her meals settle better. I recommend trying one bag for yourself and see the difference for yourself! A version for cats is also made so the kitties did not get left out on the fun 🙂

I drink Cranberry juice on a daily bases and use the fresh fruit in baked goods even when it’s not the Winter season. Cranberry in dried fruit form is something I enjoy by itself, on salads to even mixing what I call a “snack cup”, with whole raw almonds and even sometimes a few peanut butter chips.
When I saw the second flavor in the box was Cranberry Almond….I felt this mix was made for me. That evening I took 1/2 a cup of yogurt and mixed in some cranberry preserves, so it could sit overnight and have that Cranberry punch I desire. I woke up the next morning and then just added a 1/4 cup of the Fiber One Protein cereal and it was perfect!
Fiber One’s Protein cereals are made with sweetened granola so it goes beyond just the flakes. You get 10 grams of protein in every serving and this is a value with the addition of milk. The Cranberry Almond version has dried cranberries and small almond pieces. You also get 20% of your daily fiber intake.

Nutritional Facts:
220 calories per one cup serving and it goes up to 260 with skim milk. You have whole grain oats, crisp rice and soy protein isolate to Corn Bran and Puffed Wheat. Lower in sodium than the Maple Sugar version, at 140 mg of Sodium and 16 grams of sugar. I found several undesirable ingredients like Caramel coloring and Corn Syrup listed and below is the link for you to review.

Cranberry Taste Test:
I did find the Cranberries are not as bountiful and when you catch one, it is very sweet but still good when it comes to moisture. I barely picked up the Almond pieces and chunks in the mix. I did find when I added more of the dried fruit and some whole raw almonds to the cereal, it was then to my satisfaction and again the additions help mellow out the sweetness. Since the cranberries were super sweet as was the cereal, I did not eat this box with milk but with plain yogurt. I even had some with frozen vanilla flavored yogurt in one of our many non-winter days we have been enjoying in California. I thought this mix would be my favorite but because it lacked in quantities of fruit and nuts listed, I tended to be left with a sweet mix that tasted more like brown sugar coated cereal. I also noticed as I reached the bottom of the box, the cereal was finer and more crushed, so the texture was not as crunchy as the Maple Brown Sugar variety……almost mealy. I don’t think this is a bad variation but I will just stick to adding cranberries and whole almonds to the Maple Brown Sugar & Pecan version for a bowl that is more to my liking 🙂

I love Maple Brown sugar flavored treats from cereals, bars to even a bowl of oatmeal, so when BzzAgent and Fiber One had this campaign……well, I was hoping to get in and so happy I did.
I still eat cereal regularly but not always with milk. I go with my cravings and love switching it up from Coconut milk, Almond milk to just regular old fashioned….well, cow milk. There are times I even mix milks just because I can! Other times I use cereals as my “granola imitation” combined with yogurts and dried fruits. It’s like eating a delicious but healthy parfait.
Fiber One’s Protein cereals are made with sweetened granola so it goes beyond just the flakes. You get 10 grams of protein in every serving and this is a value with the addition of milk. The Maple Brown sugar version has Pecans, so you get a nice crunch and the nuts were fair in size. You also get 20% of your daily fiber intake.

Maple Brown Sugar Taste Test:
I found the texture nice on it’s own but did find it more on the sugar sweet side than the Maple side. The bites that contained pecans helped to mellow out the sweetness. When added with milks, I did notice it did not play well with my Vanilla flavored Almond Milk, so I stuck to plain. I found it was better with yogurt because of the crunch and the yogurt tends to dilute the sweetness. I usually just purchase a large container of plain greek yogurt that lasts a little under a week, so making this mix was great. I added almonds on certain days and on others even added a banana with flax seeds. I did enjoy the cereal and how versatile the it can be, just wish it was a touch less sweet but it’s nothing you can’t fix!

Being a Smiley360 member has it’s perks and one is being able to try new products. I was recently sent the Centrum Flavor Burst Vitamin and Mineral Chews, in Pineapple and Wild Grape flavors. I’m always about finding new ways to nourish the body because quite frankly, I get bored doing the same thing day after day. Variety is really what I seek and I have taken the gummy vitamins in the past, but not liking the idea of having gummy pieces stuck to my teeth right after I brushed them in the morning.
What a product is made of and how it tastes matters, especially if you will be taking something daily or several times through out the day. I do think in today’s market of supplements, just settling is not something you have to do anymore. There are so many products from drinks, chews, pills, to even infused chocolates….so I was eager to see what Centrum had to offer in this world of Vitamin and Minerals.

Centrum Flavor Burst Chews come in several flavors and range in cost from $9.97 at Amazon for a bottle of 120 chews to Walmart’s price point of $7.97 for a 60 count bottle. The highest price point was at CVS for $12.49 for 120 chews, followed closely by Walgreens at $11.79 for the same count, so I suggest price matching and seeking the lowest cost before you buy because they vary greatly.

I brought up the count because the suggested serving amount for an adult is 4 chews daily…sort of makes the bottle not last as long when most chews of this kind are formulated for 2 a day. The bottle will be disappearing at a fast rate but you can also adjust your intake by your needs and even adjust through out the day.
A Centrum Flavor Burst adult serving has the following daily values (4 Chews Count):
- Vitamin A 2000 IU, providing 40% of your Daily Value
- Vitamin C 60 mg, 100% DV
- Vitamin D 800 IU, 200% DV
- Vitamin E40 IU, 133% DV
- Vitamin B6 2mg, 100% DV
- Folic Acid 400 mcg, 100% DV
- Vitamin B12 10mcg, 167% DV
- Biotin 150 mcg, 50% DV
- Pantothenic Acid 10 mg, 100% DV
- Iodine 80 mcg, 53% DV
- Zinc 5 mg, 33% DV
DV based on a 2,000 caloric diet
You can see with the above values that with most you meet or exceed the 100% suggested daily intake, so this is why I opted to adjust my serving by my nutritional needs and Centrum does facilitate that by breaking up the serving by 4 a day.

Wild Grape Flavor:
This was my least favorite flavor because I picked up more of the vitamin taste and the aftertaste was just not pleasant. I also looked at the ingredient list and this particular flavor has Blue 2 Lake food coloring, while the other flavor I tested did not, so that turned me off on top of it being the worst tasting. I tried by day 3 chewing another and I met my limit with what this flavor had to offer…so not wild about it!

Pineapple:
The Pineapple has a nice tropical taste and does not list any artificial food dyes. The dyes listed are derived from Annatto, which is a food dye derived from the seeds of the achiote tree and Beta-Carotene. Keeping it natural is what I seek so I liked this, plus like I mentioned the flavor is pleasant.

Quick Note on the Pros: No water needed and you can adjust your intake on a daily basis because the adult serving is broken up into 4 chews. Pineapple was good tasting and the percentages on a daily values scale was not unfavorable. It’s more like a “Skittle’s” candy when it comes to texture, so no candy or gummy residue is left on your teeth after you chew.
Quick Note on the Cons: Both flavors I tasted contain Corn Syrup, Maltodextrin and Sucrose. I know Maltodextrin can be derived from barley and wheat, so this can be an issue for Celiac disease suffers. The Grape contains an artificial dye, plus it’s taste was unpleasant. Watch where you buy because the price fluctuates greatly and keep note of the count per bottle when comparing price points.

I do have a coupon to share that saves you $2.00, so that is always a great start:

I never understood why there are forms of vitamins that are different for children and adults. I understand percentages when it comes to supplements but all because I grew up, it does not mean candy was forgotten. As a kid, I loved “gummy” anything and devoured many bears, worms, fruits….now, if it had “sour” in the description, it must be mine!
I was accepted by Swaggable and invited to try gummy vitamins from Smarty Pants. Even the character on the package has a smile so it’s not only me who loves these things. Being that I have to “play” an adult, things like exactly what is in them matters.
Smarty pants are an all-in-one Multivitamin, plus Omega 3s and Vitamin D. The Omegas are 3 DHA, EPA, Vitamin D3, plus 9 other key nutrients. Organic sweeteners are only used with no High Fructose Corn Syrups! Major plus for me there but it gets better. The flavors are all natural and the colors/dyes are derived from natural sources too. For those with allergies or sensitivities, the vitamins are Gluten and Casein free. Their products are made in my home state of California in a GMP (good manufacturing practices) certified facility and they have their supplements 3rd party lab tested for purity.

Six gummies are one serving but because they are delicious, I look forward to munching on them. They breakdown 6 gummies to a total of 50 calories for all six. You get vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E, Thiamin, B6, Folic Acid, vitamin B12, Iodine, Zinc and don’t forget the Omegas I previously mentioned, plus a little other supplements. What I also like about the servings being broken down to 6 gummies, I can eat them through out the day versus taking one vitamin in the morning that my body purges out by mid afternoon. I get my levels “up” and if I get more vitamins from my meals on a particular day, I can eat less gummies. I am all about products that fit my needs and Smarty Pants obviously put them on and made a product that I can mold to my daily needs.

Taste matters: The gummies I received were are all orange in color and have a citrus taste that you get with “sour” like candy gummies. The citric acid hits and covers up the slight vitamin taste that you may note. That vitamin taste is so minute that I notice if you chew rather than suck on the gummy, it barely leeches out. I keep going to them and look forward when I “take” one so that gives you an idea about how I feel about the flavor. They are shaped like small gum drops with sugar crystals surrounding them. I also like that the texture is excellent because I get no pieces stuck to my teeth. The product dissolves without any issues like you experience with corn syrup laden candies.
